Seriously ? Sexy pictures only showing ancles ??!?! Yeesh.

Anything Goes - John McGlinn
Times have changed
And we've often rewound the clock
Since the Puritans got a shock
When they landed on Plymouth Rock.
If today
Any shock they should try to stem
'Stead of landing on Plymouth Rock,
Plymouth Rock would land on them.
In olden days, a glimpse of stocking
Was looked on as something shocking.

But now, God knows,
Anything goes.
Good authors too who once knew better words
Now only use four-letter words
Writing prose.
Anything goes.

At this point, it's just a question of when it's made official.

When I refered to Elliot and Renee as cow orkers, the only meaning I knew of for that phrase was a running gag from the early days of Usenet News stemming from either a mistyping of coworker, or someone deliberately parsing it as cow-orker instead of co-worker.  If it has a more specific shading of a co-worker you don't want around or a co-worker of bovine level intellect, I think that came later after the running gag was already widespread.

BTW, Angus once said that the last woman he broke up with had a bunch of his friends singing "Ding Dong the Witch is Dead."  Then Padma ran into Faye and Angus on the street and indentified Angus' previous girlfriend as Renee, if not by name, by figure and place of employment.

First time I saw one of my friends use it, he clarified that it was from talk.bizarre.

New strip is up

Roko is gonna have to start an "I'm Not The Boss" jar.

You know, it's really only a matter of time before Roko finds herself be made boss, kind of like the last scene of the TV drama The Guardian. I suspect that there is actually no-one with Roko's drive working there right now. I think that the advocacy group would be a lot more effective with her in charge rather than the current collection of people with good intentions but no real drive to rock the boat.

IMPORTANT VISITOR: "Who is in charge here?"

There is a long pause with all the team looking at each other. One by one, they all look at ROKO, with BEEPATRICE last with a big smile.

ROKO: "I guess that's me."

I wonder if Winslow is going to get a crash course in how the synthetics view Dr John. After all, to Winslow, he's simply his human's father, someone with whom he probably has regular interaction (either directly or electronically). To realise that he's a borderline-god to many of his peers will probably come as a shock!

You sure about that Roko?
If she takes some subtlety classes from Between Failure's Thomas Blackwell, that might help.

1. So why does this week cover SIX comics ? (4195-4200 would be six comics)
It won't, but for some reason the numbering on the last 3 WCDTs has been one # too low. 4200 is the last comic of this week though, so maybe it will be right next week.

That may or may not be my fault due to general aforementioned tiredness.

I do sorta agree that Roko probably will end up in charge even if she doesn't wanna.

Did she ever start that other part time thing as a baker?

I don't think that she doesn't want to, just that she has the idea she shouldn't just walk in and take charge.
Despite the fact that it seems Beeps et al have, without really being aware of it, been waiting around for someone to do just that.

It's not like Roko disrespects hierarchy, I just think she'd like to ignore it to get shit done.

I think it's more of a case that the hierarchy at the organisation is weak to the point of non-existence and it's hard to bear it in mind because it is so close to being invisible!

Phil Foglio had a different answer to that question:

While it is possible that the hand placement was entirely accidental, there is no question that Phil Foglio is a total perv.

Well, time for bed.

I didn't even clock that in the Girl Genius page and thought you lot were talking about page 4200. After checking QC, I was very confused for a moment there.

Of course Beeps is OK with Roko taking charge. Beeps gets the in-charge pay without any of the in-charge work.

They're not volunteers. They are employed by a non-profit funded by donations, so their pay is low.
