What do you want your calendar to do?
« on: 18 Jan 2005, 16:31 »

I'm very very interested in making calendars work together on the Internet. One of my special desires is for all music venues and band tour information sites to have their 'gigs' such that I can click on 'em and add them to my local calendar (Outlook, Palm Desktop,  Yahoo, PDA, or phone calendar if I'm browsing with my phone). I want my favorite bands to let me register my city and they'll send a calendar message to my phone when they set up a tour date near me.  I want to be able to use the same tools to set up a haircut, or get my car fixes, or... you get the idea.  Maybe someday my camera phone can pick it up from a poster stapled to a phone pole. That's MY wants - what are yours?

I have a blog related to the topic (it's a little more technical than that above but not beyond anyone's capability I don't think)

And yes, Pintsize, that IS the name of a Chambers Brothers song!

See, this is why XML is good.  Nice way to exchange data.  But unless the major PIM systems out there accept some standard way of importing XML-based calendar information...  Don't expect much to happen.
