Hey it's uhm... what's his name!
Its at the tip of my tongue ...
Any minute now ...
Dammit !
All it takes is one hospital stay to really rack up the bills.
In the USA, sadly yes.
Frankly I have no clue why anybody is still living in that country. You have a perfectly fine Canada just to the north of you. They speak the same language (okay, plus French), they have a good social state, they are so much more, sorry, civilized ... what keeps you in the USA ? I'd be in such a hurry to leave if I would have to live there.
I don’t think Canada would accept a huge influx of immigrants from the US. Or we’d have to have specific skills for jobs that were hard to fill.
As it is, to get permanent residency in Canada as an American you have to have useful skills. The permanent residency system is based on a score that depends on things like what skills you have, what languages you speak, what connections you have to Canada, etc. I was able to get a work permit in Canada because I had a job offer as a physicist here. I have to wait until next year to apply for permanent residency, though, because right now my score is too low (your score goes up if you’ve been in Canada more than a year). So yeah, it’s not exactly trivial.
Anyway, puns… I guess if you’re just visiting, you may pull seeing Europe off, but there’s no poutine if you don’t meet the requirements to stay.
