I laughed about it very hard this morning. Although it's funny there's so much truth in it. Sad, sad...

Damn it isn't waffles?

The thing to remember about this strip is the fact it caused what I imagine is masses of nerds to salivate and feel they "need" that shirt.

Satire... kinda like this article

Quote
Arabian Sea — Canadian television reported Friday that a Canadian warship in the Arabian Sea had seized a tanker suspected of smuggling oil from Iraq, leading many to suspect that the report was a hoax.

"You're kidding, right? Canada has a warship?" asked U.S. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld. "Like for war?

"Does Canada know?" he added.

"Nobody was more stunned than we were," said Kali Omari, first mate of the seized vessel. "We saw this frigate steaming toward us, and we were worried, but then we saw the maple leaf on the flag, and we thought, 'Oh, Canadians. What the hell do they want?'"

When an officer of the HMCS Vancouver announced that the tanker was about to be boarded, the crew of the detained ship was confused, said Omari, but their confusion quickly turned to anger when they saw what the Canadians sailors were carrying.

"They were armed. With guns," said Omari. "Canadians. With guns. And a warship. What is this world coming to?"

"They were pretty rude, too," Omari added. "They started asking us all sorts of questions, like 'Where did that oil come from?' But first we wanted to know who gave them the damn warship."

According to Canadian defense officials, the Vancouver is one of four frigates deployed in the region to assist in the U.S.-led Afghanistan conflict. The tanker was stopped, officials said, because its cargo of crude oil violated United Nations sanctions, which prohibit Iraq from selling oil unless in exchange for food and medicine.

The U.N. said the incident is already under investigation, and promised swift action against those found responsible for giving the Canadians guns. Initial findings indicate that the Vancouver crew may have been watching too many American television shows.

See? Satire....

Oh no offence to canadians, it just was the first satire article that I could think of off hand...

Jeeze I'd hate to see these guys read "A Modest Proposal"...

Heehee.....I love jokes About us Canucks, so long as its in good taste....

But some artists took Penny Arcades claim more serious than others.....

Quote from: Absath of Ctrl-alt-del.com
Well, my lawyers have just received a notice from the legal representation for Penny Arcade. Turns out they've filed for the "rights in perpetuity to any and all humorous comic interpretations and/or situations arising or inferred from the electronic entertainment industry and/or the products thereof."

Basically translated from "lawyerese", this means that from here on out, Penny Arcade will be the only licensed purveyor of video game humor.

Obviously this comes as quite a blow to Ctrl+Alt+Del, as we here have made our living based off of poking fun at electronic media in all of its forms. Unfortunately the law is the law, and even us independant webcomic artists have to follow it.

Rather than go quietly into the night, I'd like to announce a change of direction for Ctrl+Alt+Del, whereby I plan to take webcomics where they have never gone before. From now on, CAD will focus around two roommates and their love of curtain rods, and the many wacky adventures that ensue. I think you will all enjoy this new turn of events, and I hope you will all stick around to watch it unfold.

When I was reading CAD, I skipped the part in one of his posts about the curtain rods, so for a while I thought he was absolutely serious. Then I was just like... "Wait a second, curtain rods?!" and everything kinda worked itself out from there.

PA is lucky. They are one of the more popular webcomics out there and could get away with saying anything at this point. Hell, they already have!

Kara: It's like you guys can't have a single conversation without the word "wang"!

Gabe: Sure we wang!

Gabe: Can.

Tycho: Can wang.
