So, just how much of a gross insult to decent musical taste were they?

Personally, I didn't pretty much like any of the winners and quite a few of the selections for the various categories. By far the most vile was the best song of the last 25 years award, which was won by 'Angels' by Robbie William. Just about bearable for pop-oriented awards, until you realise it was against Queen-We are the Champions, Kate Bush-Wuthering Heights and Joy Division-Love Will Tear Us Apart.

Full list of winners and nominees

Of course, the brits doesn't cater to my musical taste at all, so I'm bound to be bitter, but I'm interested what you people think.

That's...terrible. Not that I should be surprised, but... Love Will Tear Us Apart, against fuckin' Angels by Robbie Williams? Oh man!

How did Love Will Tear Us Apart lose against Angels?

How did PJ Harvey lose against Joss Stone?

At least PJ Harvey, Joy Division, and the like get nominated in Britain.  American award shows don't nominate anyone good.

As much as I love Joy Division, I have a more pressing question:

How in the fuck did Robbie Williams beat Queen?

If you listen closely, you can hear the grinding noise that accompanies Freddy Mercury spinning in his grave. (Ian Curtis is, of course, accompanying him by spinning baritone.)

I agree completely! Wow, that is the most depressing thing I've heard in days. Oh well, I suppose it would be too much to ask for anyone good to win an award...*sighs*

A total ass wiper or the music inustry, whereby they have to give equal credit to acts of each of the major labels and only support acts which are commercially viable  the whole thing's pretty nauseating, and I love the music industry, but things like this kill my faith in pretty much anything..
