I'm feeling depressed and pissed off as I was recently "temporarily" laid off at my job which I love(d).

I need some sad/angry music to listen to.

So pissed off and angsty, eh?

Try out Social Distortion's Live at the Roxy.

That's a great album with lots of sing alongs and sophomoris angst. It's perfect for me :)

I'm a web programmer.

I'm only to work "if there's an imergency" for "the next couple weeks or so".

Pixies sounds good; I was kind of hoping for something new, though.

My personal choices for such events include:

Anaal Nathrakh-I Wish I could Vomit Blood on You... ...People
Cryptic Wintermoon-Supersatan
Arch Enemy-Leader of the Rats
Cattle Decapitation-Pedeadstrians

etc.

All of which are pretty much unpalatable to the average listener, but try 'em anyway.

Been there. I'm going for songs that are sad/angry, but also strong. That's always important.

Rock Star - N.E.R.D. (The Neptunes)
Deep Cover (187) - Dr Dre feat Snoop Doggy Dogg
Mother Mother - Tracy Bonham
How I Could Just Kill A Man - Cypress Hill (or the Rage Against The Machine cover)
Sabotage - Beastie Boys
Caught Without an Umbrella - Spearhead
Stay Positive - The Streets (cures what ails ya!)
Sour Times (Live PNYC version) - Portishead
Creep - Radiohead

Good Luck.

I would also recommend Social Distortion, "White Light, White Heat, White Trash" being my favorite album of theirs. Disturbed's ummm "Prayer" think that is the albums name. Listening ot it now and it's angry and relaxing in that odd way.

A friend once burned me a CD that he fondly titled "Things to listen to when pissed"

The only track I can remember being on it was Sephiroth's theme from FFVII.

A Perfect Circle - Pet  is good to yell to, so is a lot of Tool.  I agree with Nin, crank the shit out of Pilgrimage and make your neighbors think you're a Nazi. =P

Edit: Oh yeah, and if you're going to play Somewhat Damaged, do so away from glass and breakables... bad things can happen with that song =p

Its always good to go with the Cure -- you can go with just about anything by them,  Charlotte Sometimes is a good pick.
I'm always partial to Pale Blue Eyes by the Velvet Underground.
And lets throw it Dylan's Blood on the the Tracks for good measure.

Whenever I'm pissed off, I listen to Atmosphere - God Loves Ugly. Loud. On Headphones. You want the snare to actually hurt.
It works a treat.

And NIN seconded (thirded?).

when i want angry music i put on nin's "mr self-destruct".  or maybe the remix of "gave up".  unless i want really really angry music, at which time i put on the first few songs from demanufacture, by fear factory.  basically, everything up to their cover of "dog day sunrise" is awesome.  i usually don't make it past that, though.

i know this is off topic but it involves NIN.  i remember a friend of mine in college who listend to NIN tell me about this mysterious promotional tape made by NIN where some guy is tied to a chair and is tortured while one of NIN's album was playing in the backround.  its fake but they do some graphic things to the guy through make up effects.  i haven't seen it and im wondering if theres any truth to it.

I'd go with NIN, Pantera, Iron Maiden maybe, Slayer.

but the music sucks because the keyboards don't have the cold/mechanical sound they had but a wannabe techno sound that it's pathetic for Rammstein standars.

the broken movie.  it üsed to be hosted on nineinchnails.net, but this was years ago, so it's probably long gone.  i've seen it.  it's pretty good, fairly disturbing, and two ov the videos were different from the final versions ('help me i am in hell' and 'gave up').

Jesu's "Tired of Me" is a great choice!

NIN (yeah, again), Android Lust, Pink Floyd (esp. Animals) are all good for that sad/angry borderline.

For general pissed offedness (approaching violence levels) I find Venetian Snares or Converge to be good outlets. :)

For chaotic directionless anger and confusion about life Skinny Puppy's Last Rights is great.
