Being a devoted fan of classic tetris i feel that it deserves its own thread. I find it very addictive. Does anyone else?

If you do, and have a high score/level i'd be interesting in seeing them.

I've been clean the last five years.
I attended meetings and everything.

That said, highest ever score is 324, average around 250.

i've had multiple forms of tetris, my favorite being DX, mm color. My high score was around 800,000 something, 400 or so lines. In the others I'm not nearly as good, like the original for game boy or nes i only get around 200 lines.

I LOVE Tetris.  Unfortunately the last time I could play it was at my friend's house in Vermont.  We had this whole competition going between me and one of her brother's friends.  I beat him.  I forget what level, but it was high enough to get #1 on his High Scores list.  I guess the kid felt so bad he got a higher score (after four hours) and reprogrammed the game so that it shut off if you got higher than that score.  I found it funny.

And, no, I am SO not proud of that.  At all.  :)

God, I'm such a braggart and I don't even deserve to be.  Hehe.

Tetris is my crack and solves all my problems.

So does coffee. But tetris doesn't have side effects, aside from me playing it and not doing my homework. Ever.

I've been playing tetris with my friend every math class this term. My graphing calculator came with a link cable (think gameboy) and we can connect em and play 2P tetris all class. I mean, who uses algebra anyways? Tetris kicks algebra's ass and takes names.

As I am from Russian/Eastern European heritage, Tetris is pretty much a rite of passage.

Can we include variations of tetris? I was always a fan of tetris attack, if not just as much as tetris. The battle mode was enticing and fun.

Such a simple game and such a delight!
I remember when I first got it (um...1989?) it was great because it was the only Nintendo game my mom would actually play and she enjoyed it!
I think its been 4 years since I last played...except for maybe a drunken night here or there.
When I was in college I would get random emails from one of my best buds and all it had was 2 numbers: the first being the number of lines and the second being the score.  Those of us on the email list knew what it was without asking.  If there is ever a video game hall of fame (maybe there is and I don't know about it) I nominate Tetris for the inaugural class, its that good of a game.

I love tetris. I have played one single game for a half hour straight before, but I never keep track of my score.  That's not what it's all about, now is it?

My favorite tetris ame is this keyhain tetris game that I used to have. The screen was so small that it was nearly impossible.

ti83+ tetris.

YES!

Calculator games were the greatest thing to happen to middle school.

Do you remember the game 'Drug Wars' for the ti83? Basically just a series of menus and you traveled and sold drugs. I remember being all excited about coding a sequel to that game with more depth.. I did so much and my dad found it and got really angry and deleted the whole thing =( I don't think I ever programmed again since that incident.

Tetris ruled! And the music was class. Im thinking of making a little film homage to it, involving people dressed up as giant tetris blocks buuuut, it's all a little too ambitious at the moment.

I'm waiting for them to remake it, and give it an end-of-level boss.
I give it another three years at most before they decide to do it.

Tertis owned me for several years, it's more addictive than crack.

Though I don't think I ever got a good high score, I'm just one of those people who played it forever but was never good at it. Doesn't stop the fun though...

The other day I work, I was talking to a 50+ guy I worked with.

He was talkin' about the good ol' days. Turns out, he won a copy of the original Tetris in some contest months before you could get it in the united states...

He gave it away.

I s'pose it wasn't that big a deal, but looking back now thast tetris is possible THE classic video game--Well, I tripped out a bit...

oh yeah, Tetris rock! I'm not so great, tho...

I downlo....er, acquired Tetris Worlds for GBA. All the modes they have on there (Sticky, Fusion, Hot-Line, etc.) just complicate a great game. I only play the original mode. I've been playing a lot of that and Puzzle Fighter (another classic puzzle game, but not quite as classic as Tetris) lately.

Actually I think Pong is THE classic video game.  The first commercial arcade game, and the one that started the arcade boom.  (if I remember my reading correctly)

And dang it!  I don't have my old Pong unit anymore! :(  Used to be able to switch between Pong, Hockey, and Squash.

I used to always tease my guy mates about being gamer nerds, then one fateful night on msn it was mentioned that there was a tetris war going down amongst my fellow friends. Of course I had to log on to this Tetris battle arena and kick all their asses with a most unbeleivable high score (though i cant actually remember what it was lets just say it was double that of my nearest compititor) and hence my addiction was uncovered and they've since put me in therapy ....... :-P Though i can still remember the sweet sweet satisfaction of kicking all their gamer nerd asses and receiving their awe and adoration for I am still the reigning Tetris Queen!
