I wonder how many still play these?

I am at the moment playing Dungeon Crawl. (with a Graph mod)

It is really a wonder how intense these games can be, even though theyre turnbased and right on ugly.

Speak up! What roguelikes are your favourites?

Edit: Err.... I take that as a no. Well try this then

I used to play Rogue all the time. I still consider Nethack to be one of the best games out there. Who cares about graphics?! It is so much better than any 3d dungeon crawl it's not even funny.

I play Dungeon crawl all the time.

Ugly as sin, yet twice as fun.

Whats that graph mod you speak of? Edit: Never mind, saw your edit.

It's been 7 years since I started playing ADOM, but i still crank it up occasionally to marvel at how good a roguelike can be.

I've never played dungeon crawl, but i reckon ADOM is lightyears ahead of rogue and nethack, you guys should check it out at www.adom.de

I doubt that ADOM is ahead of NetHack. By long shot. (Yes i have played them both)

Oh right i think this might be the best possible RogueLike at the moment:

UnReal World, UrW is a unique graphical roguelikish RPG taking place in the far North ages ago.
It brings you realistic game world with lots of historical traits as well as northern folklore,
beliefs and way of life. Features and atmosphere of the game are very original and fascinating.

..there are infinite ways to play;
as a fisherman, a hermit seeking for the peace, a brave adventurer, a rough hunter, a trapper or a tradesman etc. Everything is up to you.

Downloaded that dungeon crawl mod, and I like it much more than the original. Easier to concentrate on what's happening.

Tried that UnReal World, wouldn't work on my PC. Fuck it, cant be arsed to sort it out.

Anyone else out there play any rogue-likes?

Castle of the Winds is where it be at. Epic Megagames is still trying to sell it for new-game prices on their classics site, but the actual maker public domain'd it. It's not as hard as Nethack, until you get past the first bits of episode 2.

Adom is far better than Nethack, but it hasn't been updated in a long time.  The creator promised an update shortly after Christmas, but he changed his mind and decided to work on Jade and the Mac version of Adom.

Castle of the Winds was alright, but it was too linear.

I love both Ancient Domains of Mystery AND Nethack. Though if I had to choose one, it'd be ADOM. Yep.

Nethack is the supreme awesomely bestest roguelike game ever. So much that I can ignore that I said 'Bestest' and 'awesomely'.

but the music sucks because the keyboards don't have the cold/mechanical sound they had but a wannabe techno sound that it's pathetic for Rammstein standars.
