I guess I'm missing where he confuses the two since Inuyasha and Samurai Champloo are both mangas... Unless he doesn't know that.

That being said, I like manga! Or some at least... Bleach has been my recent big thing as well as Mahoromatic. I also just picked up (sorry I have to type this as romanji) Kyukochan which is awesome in that its by the artist of FLCL!

Other manga I have and love are Tuxedo Gin, Magic Knights Rayearth, ummm.... I don't have that much... wierd.

oh dear. i didn't mean the confusion. i'm just saying that easier access to the animanga fad is found on the media/television.

am i clear now? ^^;;

manga- comic
anime- moving pictures that have voice overs

XD ^^ ciao.

I really like Naruto, but that may have to do with how I always wanted to be a ninja when I was really little. I also like Shamen King, and this other series called Ragnarok that my brother bought and I read very awesome. I was thinking about getting the FLCL books, but I heard there not as good as the show and im a big fan of the show I payed 75 dollars for the three dvds.

Mmmm manga, an area where it is so easy to be disappointed if you pick up the wrong thing.  When I first discovered anime and manga, I didn't realize that a lot of what manages to get over to the US is rather crappy compared to the better quality stuff that exists.

But then BONES studio reminded me that decent manga and anime do still exist.  Wolf's Rain, Rahxephon, Full Metal Alchemist...  I'm re-addicted.

I'm also lovin' One Piece and Hellsing (the manga; the anime never even introduced Rip-- what a loss!).  Unfortunately, I've had to give up on Naruto for the time being.  Maybe I'll pick it up again now that the plot is moving once more....

My library has a shelf of graphic novels, a large amount of them are manga. I live for Inuyasha and X/1999...

I'm really getting into Kare Kano too, and I just finished Mars and Paradise Kiss.

My favorites: Ranma 1/2, Inuyasha, X/1999, Kare Kano, Mars, Paradise Kiss, Clover, & Wish

I used to really love Cardcaptor Sakura, but I kind of outgrew that one.

Yeah, I like girly manga.

The FLCL manga are limited in number, but very wonderful. I guess it's not really a long story, truth be told. I've not read the Cowboy Bebop manga, but I question how it will be - Cowboy Bebop's lifeblood is its music. Jazz, bebop(general) and blues give the anime stylish form and some substantial function.

I was disappointed by the Cowboy Bebop manga.  Love the anime, but you're right Digs, without the music, something really IS missing.

I have been a fan of manga for a good five years, the orginal bad-ass manga's where definetly Akira and Ghost In A Shell graphic novels, (remeber how they where formated into Amercian form?), I am a subscriber to Shonen Jump, but I am extremelty disapointed in the all of the editing and censoring, the first Shone Jumps displayed some nudity, violence, and language. About five monthes ago, they've started editing out the langauge and sensuality. (They also killed the "I"s sampler last month!). Shonen Jump is trying to appeal to a larger audience I guess, but to me, it's selling out.
I am currently reading Hellsing, Love Hina, Samurai Deeper, Rurouni Kenshin, and Brave Samurai Musashi.

Many thanks folks.  Something about Cowboy Bebop had struck me as unsuitable for paper form and you folks nailed it on the head.  How many of the FLCL books are there?

Also what are some other strangesh manga in the same vein as FLCL?

I'd suggest Desert Coral, maybe. It's not really funny, though. Very dreamy, though, like FLCL.

try reading some good manga...

like cowboy bebop, yes faye is "well proportioned"
but thats pretty much the only stereotype you mentioned there

You've just named one of the ones I LIKE. I'd already experienced CB long before that little rant, and yes, it's good.

It'd be better if they got rid of Ed, but one can't have everything.

I've read some stuff but the only manga that really got to me was Hiroki Endo's Eden - It's an endless world.. It's Korean but in my oppinion there's some real great talent to be found even there, except for that I favour the japanese language.

I must agree that Cowboy Bebop is much about the music though, yeah..

It is!  Thankfully I won't have to smoke it or try and freebase it.

I know somewhere in the credits they have the name of the manga version of Excel Saga but I am not remembering it.  Probably because I have the theme song stuck in my head.
