Offensive to whales and humans - Sigur Ros?
« on: 07 Apr 2005, 04:32 »

In reference to the comic where Faye and Marten are in the record store... When Marten says that their last album is boring, I really couldn't believe what I was reading. () is one of my favourite albums at the moment, I think it's amazingly beautiful and moody and leagues upon leagues better than Agaetis Byrjun.

Ah well, to each their own.

Has anyone heard Von, which seems to be their first album, and if so, what's it like?

They're playing in Glasgow in July, I'm hoping I'll be able to see them again. :)

Yeah I have Von...a lot of...not exactly musical tracks though not bad for those who are open to what "music" is and those who have patience and if you like that kind of music you probably have some anyways but still not entirely like the two after, maybe not even half in my opinion.  Been a while since I last listened to it so that is as good as I can describe off the top of my head.

Von is excellent.

Even more so when you're too high to know left from right. That's when Sigur Ros really starts making sense. :D

I keep saying sugar Ros.

but the music sucks because the keyboards don't have the cold/mechanical sound they had but a wannabe techno sound that it's pathetic for Rammstein standars.

Wewt, I can't believe I was right.  Of course I can't prove it since I said it after the fact... To be honest I always just imagined the sweedish chef from muppets saying it, and it all made sense ;)

The tree, I'm afraid.

There's quite a few usernames around here inspired by norse mythology/language. Are the others related to this Ragnarok Online?

Well.... both actually, because the game has a whole lot of norse mythology incorporated into it.  It's one of those korean manga/anime type deals where they mish mash a bunch of western religious symbolism into their stuff because it looks cool. ;)

I thought the point of the comic was that () was good and the next one wasn't. I haven't checked, bu that was the impression I got.

That was my impression as well at first, but then I thought "Hmm... what's the next album after ()" and I checked a website (www.sigurros.co.uk), which had () as the last release on their discography... even though it's from 2002.
