To the original poster of the topic:

I think it's pretty funny how your festival would have Children of Bodom and Lamb of God headlining with At The Gates being one of the "opening" bands.

ideally, i'd be able to get to germany and go to Mera Luna.  that would be excellent.  here's the lineup:

THE SISTERS OF MERCY / SKINNY PUPPY /VNV NATION / DEINE LAKAIEN
SUBWAY TO SALLY / HOCICO / THE KLINIK / DIARY OF DREAMS
LACUNA COIL / THE 69 EYES / THE CRÜXSHADOWS / MELOTRON
TRISOMIE 21 / SCHANDMAUL / COMBICHRIST  / ZERAPHINE / NFD
THE BIRTHDAY MASSACRE / AUTUMN / ATROCITY / AMDUSCIA
LEAVES EYES / FLESH FIELD / POTENTIA ANIMI / GÅTE / FAUN
KIEW / QNTAL / CEPHALGY / THE VISION BLEAK / [:SITD:]
THE NEON JUDGEMENT / OSIRIS TAURUS / SCREAM SILENCE
IN MITRA MEDUSA INRI / KLIMT 1918 / STAUBKIND / LIMBOGOTT

being that i'm a struggling artist/student and poor as one can possibly be without being completely broke, this isn't going to happen...would be nice though.

Day 2

Having been run out of the church by the police we're a little miffed and flee to the 1in12 club in Bradford. Luckily, there's some good old mosh to be had.

Good Clean Fun
Chain of Strength
D.S. - 13
Driven Down
Imbalance
HHH (UK)
Rites of Spring
Fig 4.0
Slayer
At The Gates
Gorilla Biscuits
Ramones
Minor Threat

DJs will be a variety of drunk punks and anyone that has some tunes they want played.

thats quite funny because we do have the following lineup at 1in12 pretty soon:

and 2 out of the 4 members of the dauntless elite were in fig 4.0 aswell as martin the barman's description of uya at their last gig here as "shiiiit minor threat are back from the dead"

You just made a mistake. I have already compiled a dream festival using the live MP3s I have on my computer, from setlists to set lengths. So I'm just going to copy and paste.

1. I warn you, it's long.

2. I know it's incredibly sad and weird for me to have done this, but I'm pretty sure it's because of autism making me obsess over stuff like this, so please don't take the piss. I even have a fucking acoustic tent I'm that obsessed, because I had so many 'acoustic live version' MP3s.

Anyway, from the opener upwards:

Pavement

Just Pavement.  The show would be too long and would be less fun overall if I filled it with other bands that I like.  Maybe have Sebadoh open for them or something.  Pavement in a relatively small venue would rock my world though.

Just one wish: to see the Mountain Goats again when both John Darnielle and I are feeling well.  I saw the band in L.A. on the 14th, and while I think it was a good show nonetheless, I would love to see them in prime condition.

it looks more like people are just listing their favorite bands.  But then again, that would make up their ideal concert, so bleh.

Miune would be a bunch of bands and artists that I had never heard of before, but I thought were fucking awesome. There is no better way to discover new music than being blown away live.

Going on the threads I've seen of what music you're into, I'm guessing your festival won't have an acoustic tent? Unless it's just Tom Leher playing for four hours straight.

Actually, of the four bands so far properly fixed up for my virtual festival, 2, including the headliner, are almost entirely acoustic, rendering such a consideration somewhat redundant. And I could easily fix up an acoustic tent from my favourite bands anyway. Many of them have released acoustic EPs or even LPs, and some of them are just acoustic. All of them have acoustic tracks. Bitching classical guitar and piano instrumentals are one of the hallmarks of European metal.

Well, shut me up.

I was actually pretty pleased when I got Bob Dylan: Live 1966 because one disc was entirely acoustic, so I had a proper headliner for the acoustic tent.

I'm not going to limit myself with silly things like "not putting bands there who aren't broken up" or "bands who were all in existence at one time." So, I'd want, in no particular order:

Swans (probably early, because damn, early Swans would be an unforgettable live experience. But any Swans would be great. So would the Angels of Light or Gira solo, for that matter.)
Sonic Youth (Confusion or Bad Moon-era)
Pixies (preferably pre-breakup, with lots of Bossanova and Come on Pilgrim songs, but I'm not complaining either way)
Ramones (Road to Ruin-era, with songs spread pretty evenly between their first four albums, preferably)
Television
The Velvet Underground (preferably around Nico era)
Big Black
