Melty Blood ReAct
« on: 22 Apr 2007, 08:37 »

I searched the forums, and there seems to be no thread for this game... and there should be.

Melty Blood ReAct was originally a popular 2-D doujin fighter that was intended to be a spinoff to another doujin work, this one a 'visual novel', Tsukihime. Both games were for PC, and both were immensley popular in japan. Over the years, Melty Blood has been patched, and ported to the Naomi arcade system, and then to the Ps2(All only in japan =/).

It's a really fun game. Very different from Street Fighter and King of Fighters, but most any 2-D fighting fan would love to have this. I suck at taking screen shots.... I'll try to get better ones...

Anyway. Talk about it if thou hast heard of it!

The one at the bottom isnt from Melty Blood, I just like it. Mugen ftw!

I don't quite understand. Is this some sort of freeware game where you can create any character, or are these videos of like, Marvel vs. Capcom where somehow people have inserted Dragonball Z characters?

Ehh... sorry. I was sorta sued to thinking that everyone in the world knew about this.

Well, MUGEN (pronounced "Moo-gehn") is a 2d fighting engine developed by the now 'dead' elecbyte.  You can change almsot any element in the game to your liking. Stages, characters, life bars, music, storyline, etc. You can create any character that you can think of, even from scratch. The characters in the videos were made by ripping the sprites, then writing batch files and such to make the characters work with the engine.

I sorta wanted this to be a Melty Blood thread.... but since everyone seems to be interesrted in Mugen, we can make it about that too. Unlike Melty Blood, i can provide links for characters and the engine itself legally (I have a torrent for melty blood, but i'm not sure if the moderators would approve of that)

So i guess... freebies soon to come....

Ah Melty Blood, I've heard of it through the soundtrack. The soundtrack was similar to the style of GGXX but I never saw the game. Are MUGEN games performance online pretty good? It plays great with A.I. but I've heard of wierd ass glitches happen over different connections

I was confused because it looked like one of those "we put anime characters into a fighting game!!" mash-ups that I see every so often, so when you said Mugen I thought you meant the Mugen from Samurai Champloo.

I haven't played Melty Blood, but it looks interesting.
I looked into MUGEN but thought it was too much effort getting ahold of characters and such to actually make it interesting.

One Must Fall is awesome, by the way.  I remember playing that all the time as a kid.

I must say, playing as a small child wearing cat ears that can fire lazors from its eyes sounds like a rousing good time
