Right. Summer approaches. This means music festivals. Who is going to what?

I will be representing the QC Massive at:
Glade
Truck
The Big Chill

And you?

I'm tempted by Summerslam and Thrashfest but I'm not sure I'll be able to afford the travel costs. But I'll definitely be at the mighty Chinchillafest.

Hopefully the first Bloodstock Open Air.

My lucky (and richer) sod of mate is going to Waken, Earthshaker, Download, Reading, Bloodstock.

Earthshaker.....Manowar with a full Orchestra & Choir plus Christopher fucking Lee doing the spoken sections. So so love to see that.

I'm trying to persuade my friends/boyfriend/sister to come with me to the Isle of Wight Festival but revison and exams are winning the fight.

If that fails, i wouldn't mind going to The Eden Sessions at the Eden Project, but trying to find somewhere to stay in Cornwall for August now is going to be tricky and muchos pricey.

But i am going to the Edinburgh Fringe. Hoorah!

Might go to the Isle of Wight festival for a day (it's literally a mile down the road) just to see Morrisey and a few others, to say I have if nothing else. All decent festivals either fall on exams or my parents are being bitchy about. Possibly Reading, though I really want to go to Graspop.

I'm off to Reading this year, and maybe Benicassim in Spain too if tickets don't sell out by the time I get confirmation that people can go.

Ozzfest (lame, but I must see Iron Maiden again)
Sounds of the Underground (also kind of lame, but on the bill are: Clutch, Lamb of God, Opeth, Madball, Strapping Young Lad, Red Chord, Black Dahlia Murder and fucking GWAR)

Oxegen, teh Irish music festival. Some cool folks gonna be there: Prodigy, Green Day (ahh memories), Foo Fighters, James Brown (!!!!). Unfortunately theres a whole pile of those crappy NME bands. Still, theres a good crowd of us heading down there, should be a drinky larf.

Eh, you can't scare me. When we bought the tickets, I pulled the short straw and have to share a small tent with someone famous for furiously vomiting when drunk. Being killed is the least of my worries!

There's a festival coming up on June 18th here in New York that I will be working at. It's called the Big Orange Bonanza. I encourage anyone near the area to come out and show some love. I have a huge ad up in my livejournal. There's also the official B.O.B. website.

Again, I encourage you all to come out if you can.

Khar, go to reading, even though the line-up's 90% shit this year, it's worth it just for the atmosphere. I went with my ex for 03 and 04 and I'm really gonna miss it this year

Bumbershoot!  I was just falsely excited by reading that Built to Spill is opening for the Pixies til I realized that was last year.  Ho Hum.

The Regina Folk Festival. Buck 65 and the Weakerthans will be there.

Buck 65
THE WEAKERTHANS

It's going to be awesome.

P.S. According to the line-up page at Reading's official site, the NME Radio 1 tent doesn't look that bad:

Kasabian
The Tears
Bloc Party
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club
Babyshambles
The Futurheads
Cooper Temple Clause
The Arcade Fire
LCD Soundsystem
My Chemical Romance
Hot Hot Heat
British Sea Power
Fightstar
The Kills
Willy Mason
The Subways
The Others
The Duke Spirit
Maixmo Park

And come on, the Foo Fighters and the Pixies and QOTSA and Kings of Leon are pretty good bands to go see. Uh, and Iron Maiden and NoFX, if you're into them. And maybe Iggy and the Stooges. And uh, oh, who'm I kidding, the rest of the main stage lineup is balls.

Unfortunately, that lines up with the reason I don't have any chance of going to Graspop (no money).

Besides, you really have no idea the fantastically low levels of tolerance I have for music that I don't like. There are literally three bands I like palying Reading, and much as I would love to see Iron Maiden in Concert, I don't want to have to sit through two days of frankly execrable cack in a muddy field whilst all my friends who are going attempt to pursuade me to go see said execrable cack, and I get annoyed, and eventually crack, and scream about how they all suck, so they'd all hate me and then I'd spend the only day I would have marginally enjoyed rocking back and forward in my own tent crying as I imagine Wacken Open Air festival.

ONLY LIVE PERFORMANCE OF BLOODBATH EVER, OMG!!!

...and also the fact I can't afford it.

I might go to Fuji Rock this year, if not, next year. Either way I'm eventually going to Japan for a huge shopping spree. An extravaganza, if you  will.

I'm trying to figure out a way to go to Austin City Limits. My brother lives in Austin, and I have a ton of friends at UT Austin, so I'd at least have somewhere to stay, but it's just a matter of being able to get there, finding someone to go with me, and paying for it.

Stupid sexy Austin City Limits.

This year's ACL line up makes me sad when compared to last years.  Add in the 100 degree heat and the hordes of people that stake out huge claims of prime real estate for the duration of the show and prevent you from seeing the Pixies at a recognizeable distance without sitting through Dashboard (and the 2 acts that preceded them)... Festivals are not fun, I don't like them.  Too many people, too expensive water, too many crappy bands, and in Texas, too much heat.
