I knew a kid that had one, almost mugged him for it so I could get my Shining Force II fix where ever I went. :)

no, but from the name & knowing that Sega aren't making hardware anymore it sounds like an early Sega attempt to make a handheld device

Wasn't it a Sega handheld that played all the normal sega games or something? I seem to remember a sega handheld with Sonic games on it..

Yeah, it was basically a portable Sega Genesis/Mega Drive. However, it did have a few quirks, such as awful, awful, awful battery time, amongst other things. Oh, and it was ridiculously expensive.

I wouldn't have known what it is if it wasn't for Dave bragging about acquiring it off of eBay for the last week or so.

I used to have one.

It seems like everyone that went to Army Basic Training with me or around the same time ended up buying one. (sometime around 95-6? I think)

Well... The Army ship I was on doesn't run very clean power and apparently the Nomads power circuits were rather sensitive to one of the spikes we had. :(  My Nomad released some smoke, and thus led to some very boring 4 hour watches. :(

But yeah, Nomads were awesome.  Viewpoint!

I almost bought a nomad once or twice, but ended up with a Game Gear instead. I still had Shining Force (Sword Of Hajya -- not as good as the Genesis ones, but still!) and a couple of other worthwhile games on it. I still miss the fact that I never had a Nomad though. The idea of having Phantasy Star IV and the Shining Forces was very, very tempting....

Granted, I still would have been sad because Lunar I/II and Popful Mail were all on my Sega CD. I need to play through some of them again soon.
