What program do you use?

I had Cool Edit Pro but I tried to install it after I reformatted and it didn't go.

I have a Tascam 8-track Hard Disk recorder. Then I use the Wave Editor that came with Nero to record onto the computer (I really should do it digitally, but I'm lame)

I use cool edit pro. I am very happy with it. It has a very logical interface and a good selection of effects.

all house-rocking duties are delegated to audacity and fruityloops.

Cakewalk Home Studio 2004.

I really really want to get a http://www.portlandmusiccompany.com/firepod.html">FirePod, though (or something similar).  And some better mics, while I'm at it.

Cool Edit Pro here...it's a decent program, so long as your equipment is decent.  That said, my equipment is pretty much crap and we still manage to record some decent stuff.  Basically, if you learn to work with the various effects and learn some tricks (like using light reverb on vocals really makes a difference between something sounding amateur and professional, even if you're using a Radioshack mic for pickup), you can record something that sounds at least remotely decent.

CEP. My equipment is all crap and I don't even have a vocal mic, I just stretch out fabric directly in front of the comp mic and sing into it.

You can probably pick up a cheap vocal mic at either Radioshack or a local thrift store.  It won't be top quality or anything, but  it will be better than what you're currently using and won't cost more than $10-$15.

I'm rockin' out with:

Pro Tools on a 17" PowerBook
Digi 002 Rack
PreSonus Digimax LT (preamps)
RNP and RNC (compressor and more, nicer, pre's)

I have a decent selection of mics to choose from, but nothing too expensive.

Cubase for me with a little Cool Edit...
Also fun with FruityLoops and Fractmus (see how many people have heard of that!)
I'm going to school for engineering/producing so i abuse the pro studios.

I use 'Sonar 4 producers addition' with a basic Tascam 4 track.

Sonar is £300 worth of pure awesomeness

Ahh, that place looks like fun.  I used to work at Chicago Recording Company.  Having all that gear at your fingertips is way too much fun.  If you need anywhere to go intern after recording school, CRC is a great place.

I record live instruments with Cool Edit and then mix them in with programming and stuff in fruityloops and Acid.

edit: I also have an M-audio Fast Tracker which I neglected to mention.

Sonar 4 (should be 64 bit soon??) is cool, so is Ableton Live

M-Audio released a ProTools Version for my audio card (is it worth it on a audiophile??).

Guitar Rig by Native Insturments is whicked for Amp Modeling.

Absynth is cool for narcotic backdrops and some harsh sounds.
