The BF2 demo comes out sometime today. I am uber excited for this because Monday is my last day of high school so it will keep me occupied. Anyone else excited for this game?

How would it look with a Radeon 9800 Pro 256 megger?

I'll probably download the demo tonight, as I sleep.

Check here for some (brief) benchmarks http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=23893
the 5700LE performed moderately well and it is only a 128MB card so I'd imagine that the 9800 would look pretty sweet!
Defiently give it a try either way :)

It's pretty damn good, but that said it still only seems like an evolution of Desert Combat, as opposed to the revolution of BF1942 the hype promised.
The Squad system is useful, but pretty unwieldy unless your leader is the sit back and direct type. The commander system is better but prone to misuse (like artillery striking a point you've just defended...DOH!), Also good are the destroyable base features that limit the commander's abilities (just sneak a special ops into their base and C4 the lot!)
The classes are good, but again are a natural progression from Desert Combat. At least the AT soldier can defend against infantry with his MP5 now.
Vehicles were pretty much the same as DC, but stationary SAM turrets really spook the chopper pilots, who thankfully have flare countermeasures.
Lastly the bots are a lot better, seems the AI has had a decent rework. They will obey player orders and report back on size and location of enemy forces...they still tend to focus on the player avatars rather than the bots, but thats a minor niggle.
Can't wait for the general release, Yanks expect it June 22nd, whereas good old Blighty gets it on the 24th.

You can get killed by a defibrillator wielding medic!!!!!

I love the instant action maps, as opposed to the 10 minute jeep ride to the front line in some '42 maps.

I also love the fact that on the ar-15 series of weapons the f.a.d pops out when you pull the charging handle, all the guns are true to real life, and the iron sights work and look ok for once!
(i'm a bit of a gun buff...:^#)

I also love the feeling of confusion that modern combat has, it's just screams, gettin disoriented from the concussive blast of a tank gun/explosion, bullets flying everywhere, the fact that you have to be pretty dead on with your friend or foe recognition now, or face blasting a team mate.

Okies, fan boy ranting over. Post flaming me may now commence :^D

The first time I played this was at a friends small lan (about 10 people, really good atmosphere). It rocked. We were kicking ass squad style one some small green watery map (full version) and it was insanely good.

Then I played it online.

Then I played the bots.

I shouldn't have done those last two.

i have it (the full game), and i am completely addicted.

i never really played BF1942, but I played Vietnam alot. I love everything they've done to the game. It's so much easier to get into the battle now, what with the squad leader acting as a spawn point and being able to spawn in vehicles. Also, the soldier kits are better and more balanced.

All in all: teh sex.

Grrr. I went to buy it yesterday - checked the minimum specs

"Internet: 128kb/s Internet connection required"

Now, seeing as my own connection about 5Kb/s on a good day, I'm kind of fucked.... not fun.
