80 Minute History Lesson Challenge!
« on: 11 Jun 2005, 22:23 »

Okay, here's a challenge for everyone.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to create a track listing for an 80-minute mix CD to present the "history" of what gets called "Indie" music today.

Why am I asking?  Well, for selfish reason-- I'm looking for new old bands to check out, but I thought it'd be a fun exercise... Take it back to wherever you want, and get to the present day.  But keep it under 80 minutes, and please don't attack anybody else's choices; just post your mix, some comments on it if you like, and play nice. :)

02. The Beach Boys - "Good Vibrations"
03. The Remains - "Don't Look Back"
04. Os Mutantes - "Panises et Circenses"
05. King Crimson - "Cat Food"
06. Gentle Giant - "So Sincere"
07. Patti Smith - "Free Money"
08. Suicide - "Cheree"
09. Desperate Bicycles - "The Medium Was Tedium"
10. Pere Ubu - "30 Seconds Over Tokyo"
11. XTC - "Statue of Liberty"
12. Talking Heads - "Stay Hungry"
13. Joy Division - "Transmission"
14. The dB's - "Black & White"
15. Violent Femmes - "Kiss Off"
16. Pixies - "Gigantic"
17. My Bloody Valentine - "Only Shallow"
18. Neutral Milk Hotel - "Song Against Sex"
19. The Dismemberment Plan - "Gyroscope"
20. The Wrens - "Hopeless"
