Judas fuckin' Priest
« on: 12 Jun 2005, 21:02 »

Yeah, so I just got back from Judas Priest, and if this tour is coming to you town, GO!  The setlist was as follows (not in exact order):

Hellion
Electric Eye
Metal Gods
A Touch of Evil
Riding on the Wind
Judas Rising
Revolution
Breaking the Law
Diamonds and Rust
Deal With the Devil
Hellrider
I'm A Rocker
Turbo Lover
Victim of Changes
Exciter (FALL TO YOUR KNEES AND REPENT IF YOU PLEASE!)
Painkiller
Hell Bent For Leather
Living After Midnight
You've Got Another Thing Comin'

Plus another song I can't remember the title of, although I recognized it.  It was part acoustic, with a heavy fuckin' chorus.

Man, that was so freakin' sweet.  I nearly soiled myself when Halford announced "Exciter".

GO, BUY TICKETS NOW! (don't bother seeing Queensryche)

I wish the Priest was coming anywhere remotely near me. Motorhead too. Also, all the good concerts are coming while I'm away.

but the music sucks because the keyboards don't have the cold/mechanical sound they had but a wannabe techno sound that it's pathetic for Rammstein standars.

Motorhead apparently play a bad-ass show, but really fucking short. Like 1, 1 and a half hours tops. It's kinda bogus. MY friend saw them and said they rocked intensly for about 45 minutes, then dwindled down in intensity for the next 45 and just sucked by their finally after that. They're not old enough to be getting too old to rock. I no comprende.

Fucking sweet man. Glad you enjoyed.

My mate saw them earlier this year in Birmingham. Front Row + Backstage Pass, meet all the band, got his Bass signed by Ian Hill. Lucky bastard.

Time and money has meant this tour has pretty much passed me by, more's the fucking pity. I shall make up for my transgressions against the metal Gods at Motorhead+In Flames though.

Fuck yes.

When I saw Motorhead in March it was hands down the greatest concert I've ever seen.  The set was at least an hour and a half, which was fine by me, because I was exhausted by the end of "Overkill".  Furthermore, they rocked 100% the whole time.

Edit: Cassidy avatars are awesome.

Southampton Guild Hall.

That is going to be a pretty smoking evening of headbanging mayhem. I'm not a fan of In Flames new stuff, but last time I saw them they opened by all standing on stage with their backs to the audience, then detonating a load of pyros and ripping straight into 'Pinball Map'. Which was nice.

Was that at the Metal Hammer thing just after Christmas? I can't remember what the first song was but that's exactly how they kicked off :D

I'm seeing them at Cardiff students' union, fucking great venue for 2 big bands like that.

It's a small world after all...

That gig was pretty awesome. I got my two favourite Colony tracks (Embody the Invisible + Coerced Coexistence) and there was a very healthy dose indeed of the older stuff \m/

What did you think of the support bands? Chimaira were pretty awful, Lacuna Coil had a lot of potential but the sound was kind of ass....

Although I was sorry for Caliban, kind of glad they didn't get a shot as I'm not too keen on them, though I'm sure they would have bought some insane mosh. Chimaira I didn't really pay too much attention to, just a bob-along really. Their new track sounded kinda interesting, but not really my thing. It was heavy and there was some riffing going on though, so not awful awful. Hell, I had to sit through Slipknot and Hatebreed to see Slayer, and this was nothing on that level. I liked Lacuna Coil. The acoustic set was interesting and though the sound was patchy they made up for it with some great numbers, particularly the obligatory, lighter-waving sing-along of Heavens a Lie at the end.

Yeah, they did a lot to compensate, it was just disappointing that Cristina's voice wasn't anywhere near as clear as it should've been on the heavier tracks, and the guitars sounded a bit fuzzy in places. Still quality though.

Lacuna Coil's a bit boring, but I would almost kill to see Priest. Kansas is a bad place to live if you like metal.

The metal around most places is shit.

Although nearly all the metal bands on the Isle of Wight are pretty smoking.

There are only four of them, of course. And by nearly all, I mean one sucks ass.

Its basically all metalcore if there's any at all.  I live outside Hutchinson, which isn't  a bad town considering its size, but not good for seeing shows.
