ok i need to know if there are any REALLY good cover songs out there... all ive got is piss poor punk versions of different songs(sory to the me first fans) the only 2 real good ones i have are Hurt, that would be johnny cash covering the NIN and the metal version of Baby got Back performend by throwdown....

any other tracks to be suggested would be greatly appreciated

That song wasn't actually originally written by the Animals. It was actually an old english ballad, and the first person to record it was some blues guy named something Alexander sometime in the 20's. They just popularized it.

I must say, Stretch Arm Strong's cover of NWA's 'Express Yourself' is pretty fun. And 7 Seconds' version of ''99 Red Balloons'. Although, what I really want is for someone to cover that song Swedish death metal style, double bass drums and all. That'd be awesome.

Death Cab for Cutie does a bunch of covers, but I have to point out Dream Scream (Daniel Johnston), Complicated (Avril), Face that Launched 1000 Shits/Ships (don't know), and Prove My Hypothesis (don't know).

The Dismemberment Plan did a cover of Crush (by that lame pop artist) that strips down the song to it's essence and makes it into a slow-burning indie rock tune. They also did a cover of Close to Me (The Cure).

Also, if you remember the song at the end of Dawn of the Dead, it was Richard Cheese doing a rockabilly cover of Down with the Sickness. He does a bunch of stuff like that is very cool.

I think Under Byens remix of Rammstein's Ohne Dich is fantastic, because Under Byen does what they do best, being themselves. My respect for Rammstein grew as well, since Under Byen and Rammstein are as far from each other musically as you can be.

They were pretty good though. Only country music I could stand.

i mean blood brothers do it live all the time, capn jazz did a cover of it that they put at the end of sam zurick's solo cd
i mean the most famous "under pressure" cover is the vanilla ice version, but he changed the name to ice ice baby, so i dunno if it counts

All you folks going nuts over Johnny Cash's version of "Hurt" (as you should be) should check out the rest of the covers he did in the American Series.

Off the top of my head some really good ones were: "One" (U2), "I See a Darkness" (Bonnie 'Prince' Billy), "Rusty Cage" (Soundgarden), "Personal Jesus" (Depeche Mode), "The Mercy Seat" (Nick Cave).

There are loads more, but there's a good start.
