oh man.
whistlecore!

but whenever anyone asks me this question, i like to bring up these guys:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pan_sonic

some highlights:

Quote
n the late 1980s, as part of a 'sound performance', they spent 10 hours in a locked room, exposed to a constant low-frequency hum at 125 decibels.

The duo performed a gig in London's East End from an armoured car using a 5000 watt sound system similar to the type used by the police to disorient rioters.

music's what you make of it, really. getting bogged down in discussions like these doesnt really get you anywhere (but it's fun, sometimes)

Music is not always art.

The best of music is art, however the good majority of music is NOT art.

Noise becomes music when someone's willing to give you a record contract for making it.

Just kidding.

I tend to agree with those posters who suggest that the distinction involves the intent of the person making the noise/music.
