Ok so here's the idea, give me suggestions for a Sci Fi movie marathon.  Limit it to 7 titles tops, as it's just a small little party I'm planning.  And I'm looking for movies along the lines of Tron and The Last Star Fighter, that sort of ilk.

Any Suggestions?

also: stuff by Steven Spielberg in the 1980s (Gremlins, Back to the Future pt1, Innerspace).

(i'm guessing you are wanting the light-hearted Sci-Fi stuff)

Cheese: Flash Gordon!!! & anyone who doesn't like it can meet me outside for single combat stripped to the waist and covered in babyoil.
Child-friendly: Flight of the Navigator
Cool: Invasion of the Body Snatchers (or the 56 one is also v good)

Make sure it's the Tarkovsky version, though! I'm sure Soderbergh's is all fine and dandy, but Tarkovsky's is quite simply a classic of the genre - there's a reason why it's often called the Russian answer to 2001.

However I don't know if a three-hour Russian meditation on existence, consciousness and perception is really the kind of thing you're after in this marathon . . .

Metropolis
Invasion of the Body Snatchers
Plan 9 from Outerspace (Just for shits and giggles)
Starship Troopers
The 13th Floor (A less than good but interesting film)
Terminator
Return of the Living Dead (More of a really cheesy sci/fi movie than a horror movie)

I didn't include the 3rd one because by that time their silly catchphrases like "Great Scott" and "Back from the Future" and "Back to the Future" were getting really redundant. It was annoying. Don't get me wrong I am all for Marty and the Doc, I just think they were just turning into other bad threequals.
