bump

Just finished up Gnomeregan and finally got my Triprunner Dungarees on Dark Iron. Hopefully I'll hit 33 tonight and will be able to start hitting SM fairly often.

Anyone feel like contributing some gold to the "jeph needs a mount" fund?

Not that it matters to most of you as you're on American servers, but:

Doomhammer (EU)

Kaerlethyin - 60 Night Elf Hunter
Railethien - 17 Night Elf Druid

Jalfrezi - 27 Orc Shaman

My guild appears to have imploded due to infighting as of last night, and I've been left to pick up the pieces...oh joy!

Curiously, I was checking http://www.sorryeverybody.com and found this pic (est is everywhere, no doubt of it).. Heh, this drew me right back to these forums and, therefore, to this topic..

How are my old guildmates doing? :D do you guys still keep the Whisperwind characters?

I just reached lvl50 on RP server Cenarion Circle. Vaitork, Undead Warlock.. Although we don't have RP just like the one Mnem posted a while ago ;) (shame actually.. It would be worth one thousands lols)

I'm thinking about giving in and getting WoW, but I don't have my own computer, I share one with my dad.  I'm completely entranced by the features, and when I do get it, I'm thinking of going Troll Priest, but I'm not sure.  Is it worth it to buy it anyway, or should I get a computer first?

Would RP players actually RP in front of their friends who don't RP at all? The answer to this question is somewhat suggestive of rampant dementia...

I don't... understand... hardcore RPers. But that's OKAY!

I play on Thunderhorn general. Level 40 dwarf hunter - "Gromlin" and other silly little toons. I think I play WOW a little too much. hmm.

I wouldn't bump a dead thread like this, except that I'm on dark iron, as several people, including jeph (OMG) seem to be.

narlashk, 41 orc hunter
caindra, 25 UD priest

and a bunch of alts.

you guys better be horde.

We did that in the beginning, in Whisperwind.. Then our guildmaster got nuts, kicked everyone out and the magic was kinda gone and everyone moved servers/left the game.

Then apparently every webcomic in existence invaded Dark Iron.. I have a lowbie human warrior there, let me know if there's a QC guild to get him in :)

Oh, and finally.. Lvl60 Undead Warlock in Cenarion Circle :D all hail the dark queen!

Yeah, PVP, PA and CAD have guilds.

PA is Knights of Arcadia, CTS dojo, disciples of DivX, and lots of others. they're crazy big.
PvP is panda attack (I wanna join just for their awesome that they had printed) and Djork. djork is really good.

and CAD is the rapscallions. However, tim buckley has quit playing and kicked everybody out of the guild, saying that was what was needed to get it into people's heads that he wasn't in charge anymore. they reformed, but they may or may not have enough people for end-game stuff.

Dark iron isn't bad, but there's a fair bit of lag at times.
My guild just took the crazy 8 and onyxia within 4 days, both firsts for the guild. yay.

VGcats is on frostmane, no idea why.

I rolled Dark Iron because of the whole PA thing, too.

I have a level 46 human Rogue named Zeitlyn. I'm probably the worst rogue you'll ever meet PVP-wise. So feel free to gank me.

But my original server is Shattered Hand:

I have a level 37 troll Hunter named Arular that I never play anymore, and my new main is my undead Priest named Kasher (he is level 26).

Any Hordies on SH are welcome to join the guild my brother and I started, we're called Pork Chop Sandwiches.

(ps- all of my character names have something to do with music.. I'm so unoriginal)

My guild just downed Ragnaros after only 7 weeks of raiding Molten Core. It's the fastest since first attempt to last kill on my server, and probably among several dozen servers.

Bumped, because I've been on a WoW binge all weekend and wasn't arond to contribute to this thread while it was alive.  I made 12.4k or so honor from Saturday and Sunday alone.

So, I have a couple of characters on a couple of servers, and I pretty much only play on one server now.

First off, my original main is the undead warlock, Narr, who is at level 60 and pretty much sits in the inn at Stonard.  I loathe the server he's on, Silver Hand.  Roleplaying servers for the fucking lose.  People on RP servers, from what I've seen, don't actually play the goddamn game for the game.  It pisses me off, greatly, that even though I am the most fucking skilled warlock (or was back in the day when I played him), I could never get a group to do anything because "BRD takes too much time... I'd rather RP with my friends outside Org."

So now I play my level 30 undead Warrior, Kaeyle, and my level 14ish or so orc shaman Phthump, on Nathrezim, which is a PvP server.  Horde for the goddamn win.  Alliance is for people that want to be "the good guys" but haven't looked enough into the World of Warcraft ethos enogh to realize that the good guys are all on the horde.

what we need to do is pick a server, those of us what only run MC these days, pick a faction, roll characters, and level them up between MC/ony/BWL runs.

Anyone done Ony since the patch? How 'bout them deep breaths?  We took her down and got d/c'd, and got no loots. We was mighty pissed.

It's been suggested by multiple people on multiple servers that Onyxia firing off Dark Breath every 3 seconds is a glitch, and was not intentional in the patch.  Also, disconnects after defeating her are increasingly common.

I'd be game for your idea, if I wasn't already leveling up two characters and actually playing my main again since the patch (Blackrock Depths is intense, now.)  However, the guild I am in on Nathrezim (PVP server) is my brothers and I, and one my my brother's in-laws.  We are working on twinks for level 29 Warsong Gulch, so we've all got a few lowbies rolling around on the server, and I'm trying to level up a warrior to 60 there, so I can officially relocate and forget about the first server I rolled on for good.

You should roll an alt on Nathrezim, Witty.  You seem like you know what you're doing.  And we're horde, because, seriously, fuck the Alliance.  If you're interested in making a twink, we def want you.

As much as I LOVE gay porn, no twinks for me. I find the concept to be totally retarded. If you want to be good at PvP, be good with gear, not "LOLS I SPENT 8923475078970234g TWINKING OUT A LEVEL 19 LOLOLOLOL"

I didn't learn to WTFPWN paladins/warriors/rogues/druids as a resto spec druid by buying new gear. I did it by lerning2play.

Well, our definition of "twink" is more along the lines of "We'll help you do some quests that give awesome ass rewards before most people that level get them turned in" and "We can stealth run instances for you for some of the loots that drop" and not so much "DUAL FIERY ENCHANTS AND + 15 STA ON EVERY PIECE OF EQUIPMENT LOLOLOLOL"

And the only reason to MAKE a twink, is to combat twinks, which I have seen plenty of on the alliance side on my server.

ANd yes, skill > gear.  I know this.  My gear on my warrior was pretty good for the level, but there was only one piece of equipment I had that I couldn't have got on my own at the level (which is a really nice chain belt reward for killing the boss of Razorfen Kraul) and I was tearing it up in Battlegrounds before I had that.  It's just fun to get 350 damage crits against guys that max health can't be over 1200 unless they've got massive enchants.

Irony: My subscription just ran out today.

I finally gave in and quit the game because I didn't have the time anymore.

I play on the RP server Feathermoon. I've been Roleplaying since I first rolled and I roleplayed all the way until I let my subscription run out. Currently my character is on medical leave on some distant island.

Yeah, I roleplay :P

As I've said here before, I play dark iron horde. No other servers at the moment. I am an alt maniac.
57 orc hunter
39 UD priest (semi-twinked for 39 to get BG rep, moving once I hit revered)
31 druid
21 mage
20 lock and 20 warrior I am leveling at the same rate.

Hopefully I will have them all (except the mage, BORING) to 49 at least by christmas.

My warrior is level 165 and can 3-shot level 200 monsters. I have over 32,000 health.

they're ridiculous, these servers.

I've played three characters to mid-30s and then given up on them all.  First up was my Mage on Whisperwind.  Got up to 30-something and started getting bored, so I started a Rogue "alt" that I proceeded to play exclusively until I passed my Mage in level.  Got to about 35ish, got bored again because my guild was crap, left.

Then the whole Penny-Arcade thing happened, so I signed up again, made a Rogue & joined Annarchy.  So like, I had an awesome guild & everything and was running dungeons and getting some nice equipment.  Then I hit mid-30s again and it started to get boring.

In the first instance I'm pretty sure it got boring because it went from being easy to solo the interesting/useful content to close to impossible without a group.  I remember the final straw for me being a cavern full of troggs in Arathi.  I was doing a quest that was supposed to be ok (yellow? green? can't remember) and non-elite.  Went into the cavern and started killing the troggs, because they dropped something or other, I guess.  Or I had to mine something in the cavern?  Whatever.  Thing is that where I used to be able to take two things at a time easily it was quickly becoming a case of "you can kill one thing at a time ok, but if something else comes along then watch out".

Basically it was reminding me of Everquest, where I was grinding through mobs one at a time, slowly edging my xp up so that I could get up to the higher levels where the "interesting" content was.  However, I don't understand why, because I'm not going to be taking part in the supposedly "interesting" content, because raiding takes a lot of time and is pretty goddamn boring.  Basically I was trying to grind my way towards the good stuff instead of enjoying myself along the way, which is totally awful when you think about it.

In the second case I'm pretty sure that it was getting ganked by multiple lvl fuck Hordes over and over and over and over and over again whenever I tried to do anything anywhere that made me give up.  I know I can call in support and so forth, but seriously,  We'd call in support, wait maybe 15 mins, maybe an hour for them to arrive.  They'd see them off, then they'd pop up someplace else on the map.  The night would turn into a game of fucking whack-a-mole, with me trying to avoid the moles while the hammer did its work.

Is it so goddamn hard to make an MMORPG where it is feasible to solo without getting bored and leaving?  I mean, right up to around the Wetlands/Duskwood I was totally sold on WoW.  I had some really fun times in the excavation site there, then I figured out a way to break up that Orc camp warchief's little posse solo and had probably the best fun I've ever had in a MMORPG.  You try to make the move into STV and it just turns to shit.  I just want to be able to keep doing that & have grouping as an option, not be shown that grouping is basically the only way that I'm going to be able to do anything interesting past a certain point & that I better just put my head down, ass up & grind up to 60 anyway if I want to do anything fun.  That's not fun to me.  I can powergame with the best of them, but I also like taking my time about it.

Est my ftriend, it sounds like you need to roll a survivor class. Want to go into that cave of troggs, and fuck them up 2-3 at a time? Roll a feral/balance druid.

Spec a druid up to Moonkin in the balance tree, get yourself a big hammer and go to town. You've got 4-5k armor, high spell crit%, the ability to switch out to normal caster form, heal yourself up to 100% with one cast and keep on' truckin.

Spec a druid feral/resto. You'll do decent enough damage to have fun while in bear/cat form, and you can, again, swap out to normal caster form and heal yourself up to full hp in one cast.

Or spec resto and be like a goddamn bulldozer. Gwet the biggest damn hammer you can swing and go to town, throwing moonfires sparingly and faerie fires on every mob you attack. You can solo with zero downtime once you get innervate, because you're hardly using any mana to kill things. But it does take a damn long time to kill things in this manner.

Alternately, roll a paladin. EZMODE.

[edit]PS. fuck the alliance. [/edit]

Level 30 stuff is relatively boring, at least, Alliance side.  Horde has the Scarlet Monastery right outside one of their major cities, and that is like the best instance evAr.  Then you get to go and do Uldaman, which to this day, has my single favorite boss encounter ever with Archaedus.  Also, gotta give props to Blizzard for referencing The Lost Vikings by making them either quest givers (alliance) or bosses (horde).  Baelog, Eric the Swift, and Olaf are all inside Uldaman, those crazy Norsemen.

Yeah. The biggest problem I have with my alliance characters is getting past the 30s. I do most of my leveling via repeated instance runs(This also keeps me relatively well geared throughout), and on alliance side it's way too hard to find a group for SM. Because it is quite a long run without mounts.

yeah, roll a paladin if you want to take 10 minutes to kill monsters. If I hear one more hordie say "if anyone played a paladin correctly, horde would never win at BGs". I find it hard to believe no one has ever played a paladin correctly.

I have seen a number of paladins play their class correctly.  A guy on Silver Hand by the name of Theris is relatively infamous for being perma-flagged and next to impossible to kill, and he delights in bashing the brains out of orcs.  He's pretty damn good and I can't kill him with my warlock no matter how hard I try.

I would say that if there were as many people playing paladins that knew what they were doing as there were shamans that knew what they were doing, the Horde wouldn't dominate every BG if both sides are just PuGs like they seem to on EVERY SERVER.
