Ok, so i would have thought there would be a thread on this already, but the search was fruitless. what does everyone use to sample and edit music? does anyone else do this? basically i have a severe lack of people needed to play all the insturments i want in my music, so i want to be able to write music note by note and convert it into a sample i can use in something like Sony Acid. i have finale notepad and that works ok, but it's pretty limited and has a lot of bugs/inconvinient designs in the free version, which leads me to beskeptical of paying money.
i want to record the live people we have, put in samples and write music note by note on the PC while being able to manipulate them all in seperate tracks. any ideas?

I use Audacity and Fruityloops to do basically this.

I must warn you btw, that though it sounds incredibly easy, actually keeping everything in time with everything else when you record it seperately can be pretty hard.
