:>

I just love the way the cute pup's looking at the camera...he looks adorabley pissed to be clean.

Enhanced color. Couldn't find the original for comparison, sorry.

Taken at the Rodeo/Carnival(duh) in San Antonio, Texas.

It's really one of my favorite photos that I've taken. I have a thing with ferris wheels.

All shot on a recent trip to Paris. Any critique is welcome.

Fully manual camera, black and white film. Developed and printed by hand. Hooray for old school!

i love this picture a great deal. the only crit i can come up with for it is a tighter crop, but i think that's probably just my own personal preference... and i don't really feel as if i'm of any authority to be doling out photography criticism anyway. it's a wonderful shot, and it really captures the moment.

here are some recent pictures:

Wow, some seriously amazing photos in this thread. Rock on, you guys!

The photos of mine that are online are a little scattered, but I'll just link instead of gumming up the page with a bunch of images. The older stuff (the entirety of the photography in my DeviantArt) was taken with my mom's crappy Canon PowerShot A400, and more recently my dad bought a Fujifilm Finepix S700 (both digital). I think everything else is taken with that. There are a few other good ones that I think are only on a backup DVD, so maybe I'll get those uploaded at some point, maybe laziness will overcome me. :-P I'm very much an amateur, no classes or anything, my first love being music, so feel free to critique as much as you want!

Nope, but you're close. It's of a memorial plaque thing on a pedestal at my old high school. There are some trees and such behind it. I should swing by there one day and take a regular picture of it...

Ok, sorry, world, but I know nothing about photography.  I have never taken a single course in my life, and if my pictures are painful to look at because of this, mea culpa, I admit it.
That doesn't mean I don't want to share them.  God, I love fooling around with a camera.

also; that squirrel is absolutely adorable.

Thanks, that's what i really liked about that one too. it was an accident so i was surprised when i actually looked at it on my computer.

My heart is filled with glee that this thread is here. Photography is something I've been into since I got into High School, and I'm a second year college kid now.

First, let me say that being in a dark room is the single most relaxing and rewarding thing I have ever done. It's so amazing. I miss it far too much. I need to work on getting a dark room set up for myself.

Second, as I scanned through the pictures in this thread...I got really self-conscious! Ha. Seriously, I just lately started admiting I was somewhat not crappy, but now I see that I need a LOT of work. You all have such awesome pictures. I can't take it. But, I figure I should contribute at least something. These are probably the three best non-sunset-nature shots I have...Please be gentle.

I just noticed some of my neighbours giving me odd pitying looks and talking about me as I photographed some flowers in my garden.  Is everyone else here ridiculed for finding / trying to find beauty in the world around them?

Part of me thinks they may be right to mock me and that it is a futile way to spend my time, part of me believes that I may be happier if I were to look at the bigger picture instead of focussing on the minutae.

Mostly I think they're all cunts.

Is it really a different matter? I'm curious as to what you think. If I show you two photographs, and one is clearly superior but has been modified in photoshop, is it not as good as the film photograph?

Frankly, I'm rather offended that people jump to the conclusion that most photography has been altered or manipulated digitally.

While I would still like your photos if they were photoshopped to look like that, I agree with Anyways - it's more awesome to do it the "real" way.  There's nothing that really separates the two, but I guess part of art is the effort?  I'm not really sure.

I think you're definitely gonna find photography harder and therefore I think it's more of an interesting medium than photoshop (or any digital media), this doesn't mean you can't use a digital camera, just that photography is more interesting as an art form.
This would be an entirely computer generated image I chopped, not really any challenge (i did this after about a month with photoshop on my comp).

Then there's ones like this that are real life made fun, this isn't art, just fun.

This I think falls into an interesting category, I don't think it's art, but it's still neat. I took a picture of a roommate in that outfit in front of a box with a light in it, then I biuld a cave almost from scratch.
