My god, SWM.

You have my fucking camera. And a lens I would fuck just about anyone for.

Of course, my old Pentax body is shot, now, and I had to buy a new plastic replacement. Only upshot is that I still have my real lenses, and they work well, and the body replacement is a lot quieter. The foam on the mirror on my old one was worn out, making the camera awfully loud.

Also, in keeping with the whole "real film photography" theme here (I don't think I've posted these before. If I have, my apologies):

Pinhole.

Why having a loud camera sucks. I had to wait for those fuckers to come back every time I shot a picture. There were more than six, but I cropped and enlarged in the dark room, and have since lost the film. I want to shoot myself. Not with a camera.

i got all those extra lenses/converters for free because my photography teacher in highschool was getting fired and he was like "hey all this stuff belongs to the school. take what you can carry." i also got a really nice bag to hold it all and my friend zack got an old enlarger out of the deal too which was pretty badass.

That's awesome. I want an enlarger. I almost bought a full set of photo equipment (two enlargers, including a color one, tons of chems, a wash set up, a light table, the works) for $150 out of the Penny Saver. I had no where to put it though. *sighs*

Oh, and all my stuff came from my dad. I have an awesome zoom lens and a wide angle and a fisheye (and a standard, of course) from him, too. His old girlfriend before my mom bought it all for him back in the seventies.

Off work at five, eh? *looks around* Where are you located? My fiance gets home at six.

Thank you. Hummers liked to run into our windows, so we would go out and scoop them up while they recovered. They're awesome little birds.

i'd recommend putting some sort of frame or border around those. probably black...maybe white...i've noticed it makes color pictures pop out alot more.

Hey, thanks, Toba! Those were all scanned from prints, actually, so they're not as sharp as they ought to be. I took them with my ex-girlfriend's digital camera, which she kept in the breakup, so the memory card with the original files is long lost to me.

They're still some of the best photos I've ever taken, though.

woonie, that flower is making me nervous. i don't know why but it's extremely creepy for some reason. like it's plotting something.
anyway, here's a few portraits. portraits are not my favorite thing; i've never been much good at them. here's a few i actually kind of like.

oh, i guess it's worth mentioning that the first and third pictures were taken with my 35mm and #2 and 4 were taken with a little powershot compact.

The one from colorado was such a fluke shot. I just happened to be looking that way and I see this older couple standing there holding hands so I quick break out my camera, slide the lens to 200mm(largest I have on the film SLR) and place the shot, as soon as I clicked they kissed, I was so ecstatic about getting the shot.

Yay. I love most of these.

No I don't even own a camera (unless you count whats in my cell). I do however run a photolab.

Between dealing with customers, couriers and staff I spend the day printing film and digital photos. I wish we had more of this calibre at my work. We do of course have our loyal proffessional customers, and it's a pleasure to work with their film, especially if we can enhance it for them (Despite common belief, film is still very hands on and requires a competent understanding of colour and density management).

Those of you who have a talent and a passion, please continue. I assure you there's a shortage of good photographers in the world.

Yay for the photography thread. I just wanted to say wow to all of the previous posters. I am not sure how many of you still frequent this thread, but I wanted to let you all know that I enjoyed looking through your work.

Most of my photos have been taken with an assortment of old cameras. Right now I am using an Argoflex seventy-five. So all of them are prints that I need to scan. I will do so eventually and share. I am scheduling some time for myself to go around Boston this weekend to take some photographs with my digital camera, I will also share some of those.

I have a quick question. I have never really used digital cameras. My grandfather was a photographer, had a darkroom in his home, and I have always enjoyed working with film so it has never been an issue. Plus I like framing a shot and then discovering how it turned out in the process of developing it. I do understand the benefits of having a digital camera, and I am starting to make room in my little collection of cameras for a new addition. What I would like to know is if any of you have any suggestions as far as cameras go. Which type of camera do you prefer? What should I look for when buying a digital camera? Really just anything that you can think of that may be helpful. Thanks!

I'll post just a few of my own. The two Polaroids are from an SX70. I don't have a scanner, so I took a picture of them with a digital camera - so there are reflections, etc.

Any help at all is appreciated. I don't think I was very clear in my former post anyway. What I am looking for is suggestions on specific models, etc. that people use and possibly what you all would consider to be the best. I only have about 700-900 dollars to spend on a camera, so I would like to get the best that I possibly can get for the money that I have scraped together. I am doing some research of my own, but I figure that hearing testimonials is second best to getting to try the camera out before purchasing.

Wow Newguy, those shots are beautiful! I don't mean to be a dick, but I think they would actually be better without the borders, you have such a great style that distracting from it seems silly!
