No I was saying the original heart was really bad.  Before we redid it.  The colors weren't even and it looked bad.

mmmmmmkay.
My Storm needs to be touched up. As does Rogue, actually...

Does anyone else have problems with the color yellow?? Mine seems to fade out rather quickly. I didn't have Rogue for a whole year before the yellow in the edges around her was either completely gone, or very faded. And I don't think it's sun damage, since I'm not outside that much, and when I am, I am pretty good about wearing sunscreen.

Brighter colours seem to fade out faster, though it generally depends on your skin colour / complexion anyway. I think white ink was touched on earlier in the thread and it's a similar thing.

I am deathly pale. Seriously. The colors show up really nice on my skin, and my Dark Mark has yellow in it that hasn't faded at all. Maybe it was just the ink that Jack used opposed to the kind of ink that Aaron uses. I dunno.

So I'm thinking about getting a beatrix potter styled rabbit(one of her life studies, not the clothed ones) on my foot. Similar to this STYLE I wouldn't want to sneak someone's tattoo in case it's an original

1) Lucky rabbit foot hahah get it?
2) My grandfather(very close who died this past year) used to read the hell out of these books to me
3) I really love rabbits and have rabbity teeth so some friends have taken to calling me thumper or little rabbit.

This is just kind've an idea, but what do you guys thing? y'n?

Yay rabbits! I personally think it would be 10x cuter if it were one of the clothed ones, but your choice there:)

Guys, I am saving money so I can finally get my tattoo finished, it's a half sleeve of a snake 'coiling' down my arm. Towards the top is the symbol for "earth" in chinese. I need to get the spots on the snake finished and get the shading done. Its been like 3 months, I just don't have the money but I'm tired of it not being done. Oh, also there's bamboo near the snake too. But thinking about that dull pain of the tattoo... I hate it and love it. I think I'm going to start saving money for a tattoo budget to get half sleeves on both my arms.

Also, I'm undecided on if I want to add color to the snake tattoo or just leave it uncolored. I was going to go with a lot of bright colors, green bamboo, orange rays of light, blue or red snake, and yellow earth symbol (because the color for earth is yellow). And just in case you think I'm just getting a tattoo of a snake with earth in the middle for the hell of it: There's reasons. My chinese zodiac animal is the snake. I was also born in the Yin Earth year. In addition to that, according to the Five Animal Fist Kung Fu practices, the snake is the animal in the center of the diagram and the element that goes with the animal snake is earth. SO THERE.

Question: I'm thinking about getting maybe one of a Yang Metal Monkey as that's the animal-element combo of my mentor. I dunno. I want more but I'm not sure what to get yet.

My little brother had a heart attack last november. He was in a coma for a while, and during that period, my parents tried to "heal him through art." One of the things that someone brought in was the Marc Chagall painting, L'envol, with my brothers face pasted over the angel that is now on my back. The minute I saw it I was pretty sure it was going to go on my back, but I decided to wait until he actually died to get a memorial tattoo.

So that is what it means.

That is simultaneously a really moving reason for a tattoo, a really creative take on a memorial tattoo (I hate to say this but most tattoos dedicated to loved ones are much cooler in theory than in execution), and a really bitchin' tattoo in general. Good on you, man.

I think these pictures might be pretty big, so sorry if this explodes everywhere. But anyway, I got decent pics of the forearm sleeve I was talking about. It's only the basic line work, there's still some definition / detail and the shading to do, but here's how it stands right now.

That's the forearm. The text wraps around a little but the last line of it was way too long to fit in any other way. Luckily, the actual angel doesn't move or twist too much no matter how I have my arm, which worked out great!

Is the other side, where the bulk of the shading will be done. I'm really pleased with it so far and am fairly confident it'll only get better as it nears completion.

On another note, I noticed people talking about UV ink earlier in the thread... it is actually like, dangerous stuff or is it generally just ok? I was considering getting the angel's halo filled in with it, at any rate, which I think would look sweet, and I know I spend enough time in clubs under blacklights to actually get some use / effect from it... but if it's going to lead to THE ISSUES then obviously it's probably best I don't bother.

By all rights it should be perfectly safe. IT's UV reactive so it doesn't contain phosphors which would be the main issue, but it's kind of a "No one wants to put money into the research to prove or disprove" stage right now as to whether or not it might be carcinogenic.

I got about five billion compliments on several of my tattoos on Friday night, which has basically renewed my resolve to get a fuckload more.

On the list at the moment:

The words "Don't Panic" on my bicep,
A Darwin fish on my inner bicep,
The sparrows from this on my shoulder,
This illustration by William Blake from the Divine Comedy on my forearm,
something Calvin and Hobbes related, most likely them flying along in the wagon,
This Escher drawing, on my ribs (because I obviously want to punish myself by getting a ridiculously detailed tattoo in a ridiculously painful place),
probably others I'm forgetting.

I want to get my nose repierced and every time I come into this thread I get a pang of sadness that I cannot do so for another year. However, if and when it happens it will have to be in the left hand side rather than the right, which gives me an almost equally large pang of sadness.

Gemm, the odd thing that happened to me when I got my septum pierced is I got a lot of little old ladies telling me that they loved it, and a lot of younger people thinking it was absolutely disgusting. It was weird. All my friends were adamantly against me doing it, but when I did, they all loved it. Someone commented to me that I "didn't need to stick metal through my face to make me cute," but they loved it when they saw it as well. My boyfriend at the time said that he thought it'd look terrible but was surprised how nice it looked. When I got a bigger ring for it, he liked it even more. Not that I think you should get a bigger ring, yours looks sooooooooo nice how it is! I love it.

I'm not gonna get a bigger in diameter ring, but I'll probably up the gauge when it's healed, because 1.2mm never seems to be particularly comfortable. Also going to get some steel retainers and get my piercer to trim them down and autoclave them for me so it's easier to flip up and down, because taking the balls off is really horrible. I do like the size of the circular barbell that's in it right now though.

And i've just had everyone in my town staring me down, but on the upside, only one person has mooed at me so far. :D

Also, I totally punched myself in the nose today so hard that I thought I was gonna vomit from the pain. And Liz, pix or it didn't happen!

The ring in mine right now is only a 14 gauge, but I'd really like to stretch it to about a ...4 at the biggest. I want to put a tusk in it.

Something a bit like this http://www.kandkpiercing.com/Septum%20with%20a%20bone%20tusk.jpg

I want something a bit tribal, if that makes sense. I realize it is hella silly, and that nerdy little white girls should probably not go for a tribal look, but I really really like it. I'd like to stretch it, and use more natural materials in it, and get rid of my metals.

That picture is the best thing ever.

That's not silly, because 1. stretched septums are awesome, and 2. natural materials are better for less of the funk. I know this one girl who has a 2 gauge earskin in her septum, and she can fit a plastic coathanger in the hole, that's gotta be the best party trick ever.

I spent $60 on plugs, and a septum tusk today. Thats not so bad, right? I mean, some plugs there were twice that price and preeeeeetttty.

Also, the next size I can go up to is half an inch. I never realized how big my ears are. That's not that big is it? Everything at this site was too small for the most part.

A half inch isn't big, it's a nice size though. It's my current goal size, actually, but once you get there, it'll seem really small. I really like the look of 20mm, but 35mm is really nice too. :\

You guys, I think I might be ending up with a girlfriend who has 7 piercings in each ear, one of those that is just above the lip, one that is below the lip and a toungue piercing.

I want to see her get a septum too because she'd look good with it I think.
She will probably be my girlfriend after today when I put the moves on her during a game of street fighter.
