I really like her tattoo. His is less interesting. I'm with James, I'd like to see it from different angles

I think it looks nice on her. But she has strong features to balance it, I think. It'd look pretty dumb on someone who had softer features.  And yeah, hers>his.

Even some of my customers with their tear drops look okay with it, it just depends on their face and how shitty a prison job it was.

Yeah, I thought he just had big sideburns that he dyed red, like the stripes of red in the hair on the top of his head.

I'm pretty sure it's facial hair, just kind of blobby because someone turned the saturation way up.

I prefer to be more discrete and having a tattoo as a more private thing... plus i like seeing people's surprised expressions when i take my shirt off lolol

I don't get this. I mean, why spend so much money on something that only you or your significant other/promiscuous trollops can see?? I like to share the artwork on my body (...wow, I know that sounded really dirty, but I didn't mean it that way). I guess it's 'okay' to keep something personal, but -I- kind of feel like that's silly. You're free to disagree with me of course, I'm not going to fight about it (because that's a pretty dumb thing to fight about).

As for the second depiction of facial tattoo: That is fuckin' awesome.

I'm pretty much in agreement... I tell people I'm running out of space for my tats because after the next two I have planned, if I get them anywhere else they won't be visible in my normal style of dress, so I'm like "what's the point?".

I mean if I wanted something that only I knew was there I could go out and get herpes for cheaper, I guess?

ThePQ4, why do you write slash fiction yet talk like a complete prude?

Thanks Manda, that's what I meant. It's ridiculous to hold such blanketing opinions on something that is a usually a very personal, individual thing.

The idea with an out of the way tattoo is that it's special, it's not on display for everyone. It's subtle.
I am not in your face, I am not loud, and while I am completely brutally honest about myself with everyone, I like the idea of having a tattoo that is mine, specially for me and those I choose to share it with. I don't want it to add to shock value, I don't want it to make me look edgy at the beach. I want a subtle understated tattoo because that is what I'd like to be.
I don't feel the need to show off and impress all the time. I don't feel the need to advertise.

I really like Em's blackbird.

Honestly, PQ4.

I am sorry that I'd rather something that is personal to me only be shared with people I care about. I love my birds because they are slightly hidden, and are a personal thing. I got them there because its one of my favorite places to be touched, but I wouldn't let just anyone touch me there.

I plan on getting more hidden tattoos because they are nice little secrets. I like that they are something special that I can share with a loved one.

Seriously, stop being so fucking closed minded. Especially when it comes to tattoos and shit. Jesus.

I have been utterly obsessed with getting this tattooed on my right forearm lately. But the rational, cautious part of me suggests that while I'm still working in a fairly conservative office atmosphere with a superior who does not approve of tattoos/piercings at all might mean it is a bad idea, for the moment. On the other hand I tend to wear short sleeve shirts where you can see a fair amount of my lower bicep tattoos and said superior hasn't mentioned it at all yet. And most of the people who have approve.

Also I have no money and I am supposed to move out of home soon, meaning I'm going to have even less.

So, Tattoo thread, this is where you come in. Encourage me to make a stupid decision.

I'm far too lazy to look it up, but a few weeks ago I asked for something to do to myself. Somebody suggested stretching, and, being the mature, responsable adult I am, I took some anonymous internet advice.
My ears are now at 12 g.
THANK YOU QC POSTERS.
Pictures to follow.

PS Getting some kind of piercing, rook or daith, next weekend :).

I'd mention it to the superior and see what the reaction is. Worst case scenario is you may end up having to work long-sleeved shirts if you do get it... it is basically the same thing I had to jump through when I decided to get my forearm done, though the office I work in has a virtually non-existant dresscode anyway so nobody cared. My boss's only negative comment was just "You do realise you might not be working here for the rest of ever though, right?" which was fine, since I figure I'd either get a job where I'd be covering it up, or another job where it wouldn't matter anyway.

In short, go for it anyway, but if you want to cover your ass, have a quick word with your supervisor beforehand.

I don't get this. I mean, why spend so much money on something that only you or your significant other/promiscuous trollops can see??

Well, this has already been answered quite fully, but I as well think your opinion is silly. I get tattoos for ME, no other person. If they happen to show themselves to others, then great. If they don't, also great. To me, saying tattoos should be visible to others so they can be shared/others can see how rad you are is like saying "I'm only going to pull out this well-regarded novel when others are around, so others can see how awesome I am." I dunno, when I come up with a design there's usually only one logical place for it and sometimes it's visible and sometimes it's not. If a tattoo "wants" to live behind an ear, it's not going to be happy on my wrist.

Anyway, I'm getting my next tattoo tomorrow. It's a cover-up on a quote that I got tattooed too small, so the lettering sucks. It's going to be an interactive tattoo. I'll try to remember to post pics from home.

Because I flinched a couple of the thicker lines have wobbled, but the fatter bits will be filled in with black at a later date anyway, so no probs.
only a few hours after being done, behind clingfilm.

Today, still sore, but healing very well so far.

I can't believe places still put the fucking saran wrap over a tattoo. Every tattoo I've had from the place I go gets an actual bandage put over it.

Also, I go to a place with people who have been doing it for 20+ years. Not like my sister who goes to the place where people are LEARNING to do it.

Also, I go to a place with people who have been doing it for 20+ years. Not like my sister who goes to the place where people are LEARNING to do it.

There really isn't anything wrong with using plastic wrap. As long as you change it every 3-4 hours, clean diligently, and wrap tightly enough to keep air out. My tattoos have all healed extremely well. I don't trust places that use paper towel to cover up a fresh tattoo, like they did to one of my friends. I also think it sounds extremely unhealthy to keep it uncovered like a lot of places are reccomending. Its' an open wound, why would I expose it?

Plus, one of the biggest benefits to it is that people can then see your tattoo right away (bloody and gross though it may be, as I have reminded my friends each time before pulling up my pant leg after getting it done...) and get their excitement over with.

But it varies from shop to shop, and everyone thinks their healing technique is the best, blah blah blah... My current artist has totally different written instructions then the ones he actually told me to use (aquaphor method), but that was probably because it was the way I had healed my first tattoo.

Oh, yeah, Gingernut, that's pretty awesome. Bigger tattoos are always a good choice your first time around ;) None of these pansy butterflies on ankles and that jazz... (No offense to anyone with butterflies, etc... God, I am just offensive to everyone today. I'm going to go lurk for awhile...)

There's also the problem of long time artists having a problem with changing their techniques. Obviously it's not true of all, but you'd be amazed at how many long timers refuse to go with newer more sanitized methods because they personally don't see anything wrong with what they're doing.

And yeah, Saran wrap is fine. Any artist who uses it and is worth going to will tell their client to take it off within a few hours.

Thing is, everyone I've talked to that has used the Saran wrap has put more on after a few hours. Which is why I figured saran wrap and F'ing up tattoos was synonymous.

I dunno, seems like a regular bandage is just as useful, and it doesn't make you sweat like the saran wrap would. Since you take it off after a couple hours, people can see it anyways. Bandages also soak up some of the blood that continues to leak out, so that is helpful.

Tattoo question now.

Ever since I was fighting last thursday my tattoo has become more, I guess the word would be textured? Like it has become where you can feel all of the lines. Is it normal for this to happen when you get hit a lot on a healed tattoo? (it's been there since ~June)
