i don't think doom has used this beat on anything yet, which is kinda disappointing, since it's one of my favourites of his.

wait, now it's on dj krush's "to be continued".

I refuse to use this thread.

Yeah, shuddup, you. I'm in the mood for pathetic, geeky, inadequate twenty-something people pretending to be teenagers, who turn teenage romance into video-game analogies.

And in the time it took me to write that, the song ended. Now I'm listening to "Monster Hospital" by Metric.

See them if they come to your town. Best show ever.

5 reasons to go:

- Dave King plays a couple songs with E.T. Walkie-Talkie toys as drum sticks.

- Reid Anderson does these little hops whilst bassing it up like a motherfucker. He's like... the man.

- Ethan Iverson, besides being a rad pianist, is also one of the funniest musicians I've ever heard speak.

- They play Bjork covers.

- They play free jazz versions of "We Are The Champions", "Iron Man", "Velouria", "Heart Of Glass", "Smells Like Teen Spirit", and others.

Do Your Sums - Die Like a Dog - Play from Home was certainly outrageously good.  And Good Vistas has very familiar cover art.

Now listening: De-Phazz - Something Special.  In medieval Europe, they would play this song, and if you didn't jive, they would conclude you had no soul and burn you . . . .

It was a toss-up between this, disc 1 of Fossil Fuel: the X.T.C. Singles, and the Modern Lovers' self-titled.  Arguably I have more C.D.s than I need.

Wait, how can you have a free jazz cover of anything?  I mean, free jazz is, by its very nature, nothing but improvisation, which means that while some structure is acceptable, that stucture must originate from the interplay of the musicians.  vis-a-vis a "cover" in said genre is impossible, because it violates the definition of the term.

I'm sure there's a logical fallacy somewhere in there, but...La Creme, you broke my head.

That said,

Oh hell yeah. I gather you're an Aussie, right? Did you see the episode of Rockwiz where she and Paul Kelly did 'This Mess We're In' (originally by PJ Harvey and... Thom Yorke I think?). Television moment of the year in my opinion.

No, but now I really want to.

Damnit. :'(

Also, sidenote, Cigarettes Will Kill You is a great song. I bought Breathing Tornados pretty much exclusivly for it.

Orochi - Sakura

I love Orochi, they're sort of Kabuki metal. I seem to be falling in love with all these bands that don't have bassists lately for some reason. Somehow, they manage to sound metal as hell live without a bass player, but on their EP, the sound is a little more subdued.
