Hi guys, I'm new here (I've posted in the newbies forum), so I hope I'm not breaking any rules here. Anyway, here goes.

I need some new songs to listen to. Songs that are very rockoutable. Summer is coming and I need to some tunes to listen to when cruising and just hanging out.

So, could you guys please suggest some songs for me that are either rock, or at least really guitar driven. Good riffs are needed :). Any genre is fine, I just need some new tunes to play this year.

Thank you very much for your help, I appreciate it.

Riffs + Any genre permitted = Count Basie.  Riff-based big-band jazz.  Okay, so maybe not guitar led (though Freddie Green's rhythm guitar is an absolutely essential element to any Basie band) - but c'mon man, unison trumpet riffs!  UNISON TRUMPET RIFFS!!!

Sticking to stuff that I think should be palatable to wider tastes:

Orange Goblin - Magic Carpet (Awesome bluesy hard rock with a great stoner groove. Plenty of 'yeah!'s and 'Alright's, and 'break it down now!'s to shout out in the lyrics.)

Danzig - Devils Plaything
Danzig - Long Way Back From Hell (Should ideally be listened to only whilst riding a very big motorcycle)

Star One - Lift Off/Set Your Controls (Listen to the two together for the best affect. Incredible heavy space rock.)

Hawkwind - Master of the Universe (In a similiar vein to the above but lighter. Many versions floating around. I love the three and a half minute version found on the 'Masters of the Universe' compilation most)

Girlschool - Race With the Devil (In a lot of senses, Girlschool were the female Motorhead, and this track is pretty great)

Judas Priest - All Guns Blazing
Iron Maiden - Aces High (You have to try proper heavy metal at least once, and these are the tracks I'd recommend. Suspend your disbelief and engage your sense of fun, and the part of you that likes big motorbikes and leather. Otherwise it ain't gonna work.)

Liquid Tension Experiment - Paradigm Shift
You're new, so you don't know, but basically this is the best song for everything ever.

Fall Of Troy - Tom Waits
I know a particular Texan who would've suggested this as well.

Eels - Dog Faced Boy
Seriously, nothing rocked harder then when they played this in the middle of a concert with a string quartet.

Mr. Bungle - None Of Them Knew They Were Robots
None of them did indeed.

Emerson, Lake, and Palmer - The Barbarian
Heaviest keyboard line ever. To get even close to making this song sound good on guitar, you have to drop it like, 2 fucking octaves and fuzz the shit out of it. Plus it is based on a pretty good classical peice.

Those are the first five to come to mind.

Ok, shit, I have to add:

Sleepytime Gorilla Museum - FC: The Freedom Club
"RISE UP
PHRASE OF THE FREEDOM CLUB
RISE UP!
DREAM
THE IMPOSSIBLE
DREAM!
CRAWL
FROM YOUR HOLE IN THE EARTH
CRAWL!
THE CAPTAINS
OF THIS SHIP OF FOOLS
ARE FLESH
AND STUCK WONDERING 'WHY'!"

Kyuss - Supa Scoopa and Mighty Scoop has possibly the best riffs ever
Monster Magnet - Powertrip and frankly every other song they've done
Clutch - same as Monster Magnet, get Pure Rock Fury but it all rocks

stoner rock has all your riff needs covered sir :)

As far as rocking out... New Noise by Refused? Smash it Up by The International Noise Conspiracy?

Ride, My Bloody Valentine.

2 more.

Eels - Jehovah's Witness
Another crushing Eels track.

Death Throes - Intro/The Descent Of Man
From our very own KharBevNor, some gut-churning, face-smashing, and brain-melting industrial.

@normz: Thanks! Inter-network hugs for you!

@6/71: I'm glad you like it. It is the greatest.

I'd personally recommend Chevelle and/or Nickelback.

Except Nickelback kinda sucks now.

So Chevelle. Good stuff for rocking.

Yeah, downloaded it a few days after I got this new computer. Good stuff. Liking "Eye Socket Sodomy".

Also, for Deep Purple, or at lesat something including original DP guitarist extraordinaire (and one of the first thrash masters) Tommy Bolin:

Billy Cobham - Anxiety/Taurian Matador

La Creme, you did not mention anything by Symphony X. Shame on you.

Seriously, I could headbang to 'Sea of Lies' all day long.

Also, Aces High owns everything ever. It is sheer awesome rolled into absolute madness garnished with a nice bit of kickass.

For some reason my body thinks The Fiery Furnaces' Straight Street is rockoutable. I guess it kinda is.

Eels - Cancer for the Cure
Another Eels song that can be rocked out too.

I can't help but rock out to most of Midtown's album 'Forget What You Know', but most people here probably wouldn't like it. Too emo. I thought the album was hella entertaining though.
