I'm sure this has been done multuiple times, but i'm new so give me a break. i've recently been getting really into bands such as shipping news, from monument to masses, and mogwai, and i really don't know anyone who can point me in the direction of other good bands in the same vein. so anyone got any suggestions of bands i should check out?

thanks

Burmese.

Seriously now, if you're into FMTM and Mogwai, check out The Cancer Conspiracy, Explosions In The Sky, Mono and maybe even Pelican.
In case you're into more ... um ... complex instrumental stuff, The Flying Luttenbachers might also be worth a shot. But be warned, this is not easy listening music.

They might not be easy listening, but The Flying Luttenbachers are well worth the effort. How about a little Guapo too? Again, not easy music but it blows most of the stuff getting called post-rock out of the water. And although they don't fit, everyone really does need a little Burmese in their lives.
