Anathallo

It really made me sad when I searched and found no topics or even any discussion about this bamd.  Unless something was wrong with the search feature.

These guys are probably one of the best bands I've ever seen in regards to technical ability, overall musicianship, and stage performance.  Do yourself a favor and chek them out, and check them out live.

Unfortunately, the bands name seems to be 'Anathello' and not 'Skyclad', therefore your supposition is incorrect.

Another thing it doesn't have going for it is that it doesn't have Frank Zappa in it.

And I don't know how they get away with calling themselves progressive.

but the music sucks because the keyboards don't have the cold/mechanical sound they had but a wannabe techno sound that it's pathetic for Rammstein standars.

Good? Certainly.
Technical? Yes.

Still, they're music is poppy in a not so good way, the voice hell of annoying, and it's really not that complex. Basically it's just a Pinback rip by guys who can play better than Pinback.

So are they good? Yes.
Are they the best band in the world? Fuck no.
Are "Man... or Astroman"? Probably.

They're alright. I wouldn't see them in concert if it cost me more than ten bucks, though.

Right now, I think my vote would be for Horse the Band, just because they have a song about Megaman.

hmmm, yeah, Horse The Band may very well be the best band in the world.  However, you should probably hear more than just Cutsman before making such a judgement.  You were just lucky enough to be very right.

Anathallo's music is slowly becoming much less "poppy", but I would agree with the assesment on their recorded material.  Maybe best ever is too much...  how about "the fucking shit".  I wont retract that.

Corrected! LOLZords

I'd put Horse a very close second, Bunnies FT(almost)W.

Anathello... yeah sure. Good, not best.

Look, if it involves guitars in any way other than sampled and looped, contains not even a wry allusion to the TB303, and wasn't assembed in ReNoise or ProTools or a pair of Tech-12s, it's simply not worth listening to.

I still don't quite understand how this relates to anything in this post, unless I missed a random comment preceeding yours.

They better demonstrate a lot more technical ability to even be called technical in any way shape or form.  I think they're kind of boring, personally.  The songs kind of meander.  They don't really have any direction, which makes me not be interested in them at all.  However, they do one of my favorite things at some points in their songs; counterpoint!

If it makes you feel better, I have heard of Anathallo, really enjoy them and enjoy them live even more than on CD.

They are from the same scene as Sufjan Stevens.  Anywho they are pretty darn good live, I was honestly very impressed, i mean hell for a group of kids that come from hardcore bands to make albums like this.  Yeah.  The song structure does kinda meander but its all still cohesive especialy if you listen to the albums as a whole.  The new album is pretty spiffy and has some sweeeeet artwork.

If lolapolooza werent so expensive I would go see them on it this summer.

Yeah, that's definatly the case.  Their new album is the only one that's really captured their live effect, at least almost.
