They do sound a little like Zeppelin from time to time. That said, I'm still going to go see them at the ANU bar in a couple of weeks.

For those interested, look up the songs Mind's Eye and Woman, just as a good couple of examples.

Am I imagining things, or some songs re-recorded in a slightly-different style for the album release?

I am probably imagining things.

I'm going to uy their self titled album. I love Mind's eye. My friend got me on to them the first song I heard was women and it put me off because I thought "If I wanna' listen to Led Zepplin I'll just listen to Led Zepplin but on hearing Mind's Eye I decided they where wicked."

They played last night but I couldn't go.

yeah, Woman & Mind's Eye were the ones that changed my mind.  i had previously only heard a certain song that sounded a lot like the White Stripes, so i thought that they were just a lame aussie White Stripes ripoff, which is particularly bad timing on their behalf seeing as I have only just gotten totally sick of the White Stripes.

I like Woman and Mind's Eye, and would like to get some more of their music. Perhaps when I am less broke.

(I didn't know they were Aussie! Go us!)

I quite like them, but I still maintain they kinda fucked up Dimension on the album release, I can't quite remember why, but I think there are a lot of subtle differences between the album and the EP version that bug me. And yeah, they do sound quite a lot like zeppelin, but they manage to distinguish themselves just enough for me not to care. I can't see myself getting into them in a big way, although I might pick up their album just to see what I think of it. Their EP is quite the delicious little number.

I love Wolfmother.  All I've heard are the 4 songs on the EP, of which "Dimension" and "The White Unicorn" are absolutely freakin' ace.  "Woman" is good too.  I've yet to hear "Mind's Eye."  I can't wait to hear anything of theirs beyond the 4 I've listened to already.

Edit .... at the website, listening to "Mind's Eye" ... it's living up to expectations.

So, I first heard Wolfmother at this year's Big Day Out (yes, I am a festival whore. Yes, I'm going next year). I was pretty bummed out at the Eskimo
Joe set and all of the extremely screamy young ladies, and the new "adult" Eskimo Joe just doesn't put on as interesting a live gig (especially not for a stadium/arena concert), so I went for a wander, trying to find the lillypad stage.

Anyhow, I ended up at the Essential stage somehow, where there were like 500 goths and metalheads who I figured were there to watch Slipknot (yeah, I know, don't get me started). Wolfmother were on, and even though I only caught two songs, they were (and I'm quoting from my gig diary) "fucking awesome". I went out and bought the EP the next day.

So, in summary - good on album, fucking brilliant live. Highly recommending seeing them, if you get the chance. They are doing the BDO this year, and I think they are about to/may just have played the metro in sydney. Have a look.

Thank you, enigmatic headware. You have confirmed my suspicions.

I've been hearing Mind's Eye on the radio a bit recently and I can't decide whether I like them or not either. I really like the tune -- keyboards especially -- but they sound so retro… maybe a bit too retro. Like the only things they've ever listened to is Led Zep and Pink Floyd. Hmm.

I will catch them at the BDO and see what i think of them there.
