What you need is Escape Velocity: Nova.

It's cheap, it's great fun, and it's totally addictive.

If you're a fan of the Civilization series, Civ 4 will be released for Mac in January.  Also, I think they released the complete Civ 3 collection for Mac this month.

Age of Empire is worth playing, if yer in the mood for some good ol' FPS, try XIII, I was surprised how well that game play in my old iBook G3 700Mhz.

oh and Return To Castle Wolfenstein may be old, but it's still a classic, run extremely fast on new system as it only required 128MB RAM, 400Mhz and 16mb vram I think

(it actually run in my G3 PowerBook 400Mhz)

Uplink and Darwinia are nice. Warcraft 3 ist fun too (and the Windows-CD works for Mac as well, except for one edition, where they kind of - forgot to put the Mac-Files on the CD)

But I can't seem to get Starcraft to run, it should work in Classic Mode, but it simply doesn't. What a shame, Starcraft > all.

Ah yes, and there's an active Freeware / Shareware-Community. Google around for Ragdoll Soft (N-Ball!) and "And Round Again".

Most of the other Windows Ports suck (bad performance, Knights of the Old Republic runs barely on my 1,33Ght PowerBook), but if can get them running, you still have to keep in mind that Multiplayer rarely is cross-compatible. No Rise of Nations MP = teh suck.

SC has been carbonized for OSX, you can find the patch for it here. I could be mistaken, but if you do a bit of poking around BattleNet you should be able to find a native OSX installer on there as well.

Edit - http://www.blizzard.com/support/?id=msc0411p for patch and OSX installer.
