I'm Mexican and I'm here to tell you about some of my favorite spanish speaking indie-pop... I know some of you might know these bands...some of them are pretty popular...but oh well...
http://www.lucybell.cl/ Lucybell from Chile: go out and get their second and third records 'viajar' and 'lucybell' respectably...
http://www.babasonicos.com/ Los Babasonicos from Argentina: These guys are so over the top and have their fingers in so many styles that they are almost impossible to classify...genius is a word that comes to mind... A good place to start is with 'Jessico' not my favorite, but a solid pop record...My favorite is 'trance zomba' this record is so good, I get goosebumps just thinking about it...'Infame', 'Babasonica' & 'Dopadromo' are also great...
Los Tres from Chile...These guys made some pretty tight sounding records...These guy even recorded an 'Unplugged' for Latin Mtv...and it's a real 'unplugged', even the mics were cordless!...Get 'Fome' & 'La espada y la pared' witch ends with a pretty weird cover of 'All tomorrows parties'...
http://www.esmirandamiamor.com/ Miranda from Argentina...I'm not a big fan...but they are worth cheking out...
http://www.elotroyo.com/El Otro yo from Argentina...Genius noise in the vein of 'dirty'-era Sonic Youth..."mundo' and 'abre-caminos' are the records to get you started...
http://www.losplanetas.es/ Los Planetas from Spain...To many good record to list...do yourself a favor and get some...
http://www.plastilinamosh.com.mx/Plastilina Mosh from Mexico...This electro-duo is somewhat known outside of Mexico...But alas, for me they have not surpased their debut 'aquamosh'...'ode to Mauricio Garces' is in my shorthlist of favorite instrumental song...
o.k. if anybody is paying atention I will post some more bands...but i'm tired now...so, go out and listen to pop in spanish... G>M>
