I had such a good time doing the silly metal vocals I cannot imagine we have seen the last of Dystynt Höllërin.

Jeph, you are a pretty cool dude, if we were to meet in the real world for realsies, would we:
a) fist bump.
b) high five.
c) exploding high five.
d) shake hands in a solemn manner and never speak of it again.

mutual j/o

This was the best answer. Thank you.

Hi Jeph. Congratualtions of the addictive comic. Recent comic made me think so, do you discuss your female characters thoughts and actions with your wife or is it all you? Cause daaamn you're good at sussing us out sometimes.

Oh, and now I'm going to be cheeky. A mate was lloking at costs for advertising on your site so sure you're opinion would be valued. http://this-noise.smackjeeves.com/ - any thoughts?

Hi, Jeph,

A delicate question here.

Beyond the existing forum rule about not nitpicking, what else should we your guests know about appropriate conduct when we're critically discussing a strip, a plot line, or whatever?

"Don't be a dick" is a fine rule but I'm asking for something more specific. I know I've pissed you off before without meaning to, and want to avoid doing it again if possible.

Will posts along the lines of "This didn't work for me" or "That didn't feel realistic" drive you up the wall if they respect that you're committed to doing the best job possible? Is that the key issue, that some people have said that you don't care instead of saying that they didn't like something?

You've always made it clear that you're self-critical (as is every serious artist I know). Is external criticism just hurtful piling-on on top of your self-criticism?

There's probably a lot of us who want to balance an open discussion with being decent to the real person whose passion is creating Questionable Content.

Well I haven't banned Headwound yet and all he/she does is bitch about stupid shit

Seriously though, it's not a cut and dry thing. 99% of the time if someone here says something negative about the comic I don't give a shit, but if I'm having an especially bad day, or their criticism is especially stupid, they're gonna get a reaction from me.

it sucks and is no fun at all whatsoever but it does provide you with extremely useful skills. however if you take it to an extreme it will suck all the soul out of your playing and composition.

Dear Jeph,
I spent like ten minutes trying to think of a good question to ask you yesterday and now I forgot what that question was.  Is it more sad that I forgot it, or that I spent ten minutes trying to think of it?

Also, would you like to come to Montana for some drunken sledding?  At the rate it's snowing here today there will probably be a good foot on the ground by the time you get here.

I've been reading this strip for 5 years now. It has been lots of fun watching the art mature and seeing the characters develop such depth. The storylines keep becoming more fun. I love where the strip is right now and I'm so happy to see that it's picked up such a huge (and apparently obsessive!) following. The bizarre nitpicking in the forums makes me sad.

Sorry for not having a question to put in a question thread. I just figured that after so many years of readership, I should fangirl you a little. So, um, thanks for the many years of entertainment.

It's a website that lets you make your own comics using some provided tools.  As a result, all of them have the same general art style...there was a thread for it here.  Some of them look a little broken for whatever reason, but there was some funny shit in that thread.

Got any tips for an aspiring webcomic artist? (An aspiring webcomic artist who already understands that drawing a picture does not equal instant awesome status.)

I didn't say "Is Penny Pizza Girl?" I asked if he was going to revive the cast's suspicions. Unless my memory has gone to hell, the group never definitively resolved that conflict.

Which begs the question for Jeph: what do you say about re-titling the "About" link to say "F.A.Q." instead? I facepalm when I see this shit, I can't imagine it's any better for you.

The thread is 37 pages long.  It's completely unreasonable to expect someone to read the whole thing.
Besides, everyone knows Pizza Girl is Sarah.  She just moved from one essential food group to another.

the last panel in 1394 is about mormons right? what with the joseph smith referance...

so, why do you hate mormons so much? is it because they won't put out?

for me its how they travel in pairs or packs... like some kind of wild dog.

also...

do you think I'll ever ask a question thats important, or at the very least... amusing?

I think i will, someday.

It's completely unreasonable to expect someone to read the whole thing.

The key to the Internet is learning to search.  This board has an excellent search function that automatically searches the current thread when one is open.

While you're working on HTML, could you fix the markup on the FAQ page? You don't have any close-paragraph tags so Firefox just shows it as a big pile of text. And since my home computer (Mac) barely distinguishes between regular and bold type it's damn near impossible to see where one question ends and another begins.

And on another display note, would it be possible to add Arial to the beginning of the font-family declaration in the main site's style sheet? Small Helvetica type looks like total ass on 90%+ of the computers out there. As bad a knockoff as Arial is, it at least fits to the screen's pixel grid and is more attractive at lower resolutions. (Given the way Macs fuzz up all their text this isn't as noticeable on my home machine as it is on the PC at work.)

It also talks it in the "About" page that can be found as a link on the main page of the friggin' comic.

Which begs the question for Jeph: what do you say about re-titling the "About" link to say "F.A.Q." instead? I facepalm when I see this shit, I can't imagine it's any better for you.

That's a good idea. I'm gonna do that now.

Glad to help, man.

I can't recall ever seeing anything about this anywhere, but do you have a work studio in your home somewhere? Or do you instead have a separate out-of-home space that you use as one? Just curious, I guess.

If it's an in-home studio, I have another question. How does this work logistically within your home? Do you and Mrs. Jeph just use the room for any art and comic-related business, and avoid it otherwise?

I am mainly just curious, but another reason I ask is because I would like to eventually have an in-home studio myself for my music and I would like to know from somebody who has firsthand experience with making it work for them.

if you house and feed me, I could totally drum for Deathmøle. I'd even learn this mysterious "drum recording" thing you're all talking about. (no, really)

The last time I housed someone from the forums for any length of time he smelled up my couch and eventually got run out of town by the cops.
