I'm talking about 24. This show is basically 24 episodes a season of Kiefer Sutherland fucking shit up. I love this show, and so do you.

JACK BAUER KILL COUNT - 13

(If anyone would help and write up synopsis of the season 5 episodes so far, I'll put 'em in this post. I'll continue to update the kill count for the entire season.)

I missed the first episode of season 1, and I was like "Dang! I can't watch the second hour wthout knowing what happened in the hour before it!"

Also, when do they poop?

I was kinda dissapointed with this season (5). It seems like they're just going through the routines again, nothing original was happening. They could have made it great though!

SPOILER CONCERNING SEASON 4 AND 5!

After what happened at the end of season 4, they could have made a really kickass season involving Jack being hunted by the Chinese and nobody helping him. They could have finally gotten away from CTU and brought in a whole bunch of new characters. Instead, they opt for the 'ol "Jack is forced back into a world that he thought he had left forever. Just like season 4. And season 2.

SPOILER ENDING!

I'm sure this season will be great though and I like the way they started things off.

I agree with Jarne.

*** Here there are spoiled fruit ***

I was expecting a whole lot more of Jack on the run, but I guess they couldn't spend an entire show hunting Jack down, or burn precious hours having him on the run and still have him come back and avert a crisis he only has perhaps 12 hours to figure out instead of the universally required 24.  I also think he needs to break down and lose his mind a little more emotionally over the death of his friends.

***  Isle four has been serviced, sorry for the inconvenience ***

The next couple of weeks should be interesting considering they used two-hour blocks for single arcs instead of just sixty minutes in the opener(s).

I feel bad for Jack Bauer, he has had so many damn bad days, that if I'm not mistaken

SPOILER?
killed his wife and kid.
END SPOILER?

But I may be mistaken.

I am not a fan of the show however, I don't hate it, but it really does nothing for me.

I think they keep getting worse each season (mind you, it's still good).

Season 1 is by far the best. All of the stuff was just great, including all those plot twisties at the end. Season 2 just pumped up the threat level which pretty much ruined the rest of the seasons because they couldn't just make the threat bigger but they tried to anyways. Season 3 stumbled a bit at points and season 4 was just them doing a generic 24 season.

24 is a show that unfolds in real time, over a period of 24 hours. Each hour in the show is an episode. It follows Jack Bauer and the CTU as they deal with terrorist threats.

SPECULATION INVOLVING SPOILERS!

Perhaps they're going to have Jack stop the terrorist threat in the earlier hours and THEN the chinese find he's still alive and start hunting him. That would be awesome. I also want there to be more on Mandy, her character could sure as hell use some development.

LOL SPOILERSPEC

I keep hoping that the chinese will go to war with the US over this. Like, them hiding Jack acknowledges that the US was fully behind the raid on the embassy, and the chinese decide to counter-attack. (Yes, I know that the US didn't know he was alive.)

That would kick much ass, to see a full out war on 24.

So, is this one of those one of those threads that's specifically for fans of the show/band/film in question, or am I allowed to say that I think 24 is a reprehensibly and needlessly sadistic show whose "cliffhanger on the hour, every hour" style makes a mockery of its proclaimed realism?

I don't think it would be wise to sacrifice entertainment for realism, in this case. The cliffhangers add to the show, no matter how sadistic you think they may be.

Also, criticism is welcome in this thread, but please please please don't troll.

I don't think anyone that watches 24 even remotely buys into the feasability of such a premise.  And I can guarantee you that none of us care.

You can't take an idea like this seriously, so I personally just kick back and enjoy the 'splody stuff.

Sorry, I'm not trying to troll.  It's just that I really hate the show.  I'm not saying that just for the sake of flaming: the fact that almost every season seems to involve torture of one kind or another - and more to the point seems to revel in it and even justify it - is to me utterly repugnant.

As for the cliffhanger thing, yes it does make the show more exciting.  But it also makes the show less realistic - I don't know what it's like in the U.S., but when 24 first started screening in Australia every critic under the sun was trumpeting it as some new benchmark for realism in television.  You can't have your cake and eat it, too.

24 can in no way be seen as realistic. It's more like a James Bond for the post 9/11 years. It has got a formula it recyles involving the whole "worst case terrorist scenario", Jack's love interests and a bunch of moral choices (including torture and whatnot) that the characters have to make. Up until season 4 it even had really interesting villians who had alot of personality.

i LOVE 24. it really is one of the coolest shows on TV, without a doubt. although i think lost trumps it over all, i really outta make a thread about thaty show, except since i live in england i've onyl season one and i just know someone somewhere would spoil it for me. but anyway, back to 24, i know it get's a little grim sometimes but it has EXPLOSIONS and TERRORISTS and BEAUTIFUL GIRLS and SUNSHINE and THE THREAT OF NUCLEAR DETONATION! what more could a man want? except for, i guess, robots that fight each other. but for that we have transformers...

oh man, they should totallty do a realtime version of transformers where optimus prime fights terrorists. it's kick it.

Been watching season 1.  "Let's blow up an entire airliner so we can steal a photographer's ID card!"

This is such a drinking game show.

Jack Uses A Cell Phone: One Shot
Tearful reunion w/ family: Two Shots (There have been six of these in the first 14 hours)
Teri Bauer/Elisha Cuthbert Duo switch personalities ("Strong, take charge reassuring" to "Totally unsure and clueless" and back again): Two Shots
Elisha Cuthbert is a flaming bitch, for NO APPARENT REASON: Two Shots
CTU member decides to fuck another CTU member for NO APPARENT REASON: Three Shots
Bureaucratic Hardass appears with no function other than waylay Jack Bauer: Three Shots
Pointless, distracting, and thoroughly rediculous romantic subplot pops up: Five Shots

And so forth.

I watched most of Season 1, thought it was kinda lame. Though if I remember correctly drinking a shot every time that stupid daughter got kidnapped would empty a bottle in about 2 episodes. I swear she was getting kidnapped by her own shoes by the end.

Jarne: Last night's 24 appeared on bittorrent by the time I was up this morning. This will be true for every episode, baring some sort of mass suicide pact by every release group. It also has around 800 seeders, so I don't think you'd have much trouble getting hold of an episode by the time the next one came out.

Quick question: Is anybody else trying very hard not to think of this season's villain as "Badger"?

Also Season 5 just turned into Season 2. That's only a good thing if George comes back. (yeah, I'm a day late. Fox doesn't broadcast out here, so I have to wait for BT)

They did that because it was only a couple months after 9/11, and blowin' up planes was still a sore subject.

And I refuse to think of the villain this season as anything but Badger.

Tiny'd to prevent spoilers.

This show is an exercise in Schadenfreude.  As in, "Ha! Ha!  Your character has fallen into an utterly improbable yet strangely predictable fate, which will be distinctly uncomfortable, to say nothing not-quite-lethal!  Ha! Ha!"

Spoiler from two nights ago!

Yeah, Edgar is one dead guy.  He does a lot of work on the Soprano's on HBO, so it looks like he wants to focus more on that.  The news was saying that people were upset about it.  I don't see why, Edgar was always a jerk and would go on power trips for no reason.  He always seemed like a guy that would get bought off and betray CTU.

On a seprate note, I love watching this show with my dad.  His standard "Put Two In Her/His/Their/A Baby's Head!!" answer for all of Jack's problems is a quite hilarious.

Second Spoiler Alert!!!

I just had to pop in to say "I love 24!" I have watched it religiously with my mom, sister, boyfriend and best friend since season 1. (My dad and brother hate it so we have heard all the trolling imaginable)

Last 2 episodes were way too intense! Jack actually scared me for the first time since he cut off that dude's head in like season 1. ....and Edgar....oh so sad....I loved Edgar..he was kinda like a puppy...a puppy who could have cranky days and was overweight but you still loved him.

I hope Kim's new man get's shot though...by Jack. Twice. Once in each kneecap.

*Some spoilage here*

I think now that everyone Jack has ever known is dead, save Audrey and his daughter (who we all hope gets three in the chest and one in the head), he's due for a bloody rampage that can only end with him standing on a hill comprised of the mangled corpses of his enemies.

But maybe that's just me.

And did anyone else find themselves unable to not laugh at the twitiching hobbit in a business suit last week?  There needed to be someone around that actually cared about his character to say "don't go where I can't follow!"

Again, might just be me.
