I hate their band name. I've not heard any of their music - not that I'm avoiding then due to their shitty band name - and don't plan on seeking it out based on the ecstatic reviews, but I'll give 'em a chance if I ever end up listening to one of them.

This band is awesome. Sure, their lead singer's voice can get grating at times, but that's just the production. Lots of energy. Nice hooks. All-around great band. Can't wait till their next album.

I like them cause I like them.

Singer does sound a wee bit too much like David Byrne sometimes.

Clap Your Hands Say Yeah's album was the most goofy-grin dance-around-like-an-idiot guaranteed-pick-me-up album of 2005.

Err, "We Have the Facts and we are Voting Yes" is by Death Cab for Cutie.

...I could've sworn it was only released this year.

In Britain, yes it's only just been released.  The album was originally released in the U.S. by the band themselves in 2005, however.  In Australia it hasn't yet been officially released - I bought it on import last August from the lovely folks at Polyester Records.

I got it on import in december and at first I couldn't stand the singers voice,
but with time it grew on me untill I like them as much as I like 'The Flaming Lips'!

Whats wrong with the name?
I think it's perfect for the feel good music that they play. (and it's catchy)

That makes me laugh. Maybe it's the flow of the two names that got him confused. Still, they sound nothing alike.

I avoided getting their album for a while just because from their name I assumed they were some crappy faux-infantile indie band.  But I downloaded their album a few weeks ago and ended up ordering it.  It's damn good.

I was going to see them live, but it's 18 and up, which makes me sad.

They're pretty decent.  Not really as good as all the reviews say.  I usually agree with the reviews, but not here.

You say it like it's a bad thing.  They're a fun band, one of the reasons I like them is because he can pull of sounding like David Byrne without ripping off David Byrne or the Talking Heads.

Nope, I love both Talking Heads and Clap Your Hands (and Byrne' solo career), however if the singer had a Barry White voice it would be so much fun.

Quite fond of them myself. Except the first track from their album. Nothing justifies the existence of that track. It's worse than Pearl Jam's 'Bugs' for chrissakes.

I'd hoped to be able to see them in concert, as they're playing in Orlando, FL (I live in Tampa)- on my birthday, no less- but alas; my b-day is on a Monday. *emo tear*

Kidding, right? I love that track. It sums up the point of their music. From the preacher-like delivery of one voice to the "clap your hands/but I feel so lonely, but I'd look funny, etc" interplay, you got a symbolic track to their desire to get people to listen and dance to the catharctic music. Plus, it sounds cool.

I love that first track too.  It's the perfect start-off for the album - the lead in from that to the when the bass kicks in on "Let the Cool Goddess Rust Away" is just perfect.  The first track is like a prologue in a book . . . a prologue to ROCK!

EDIT: Also, I don't really get the whole David Byrne comparison thing.  David Byrne sound perpetually agitated, like the whole world's about to fall apart or turn on him.  Alec Ounsworth sounds too cool for school - like even if the whole world did fall apart or turn on him, he wouldn't give a shit.  I love both of 'em.
