I tried Litestep a while back but it was not a very good implementation at the time.  Now that it is a bit more mature I might give it another go.  Thanks for reminding me about it, Silverfire.

the new installer LOSI (there are like 3 now) was a bit buggy for me, so i used the old installer and downloaded a update from the litestep dev website and it works fine

Here is my desktop. I should probably have cleaned it a little before taking a screenshot, but oh well... It's done now.

You guys have gorgeous shell replacements. Right now I'm sporting FlyAKiteOSX, which actually runs like crap. I just haven't found a decent shell to replace it with. Somebody want to unlazy me and throw some links up?

I made things prettier on my desktop. I switched from the regular Ubuntu skin to a blue one so I could change my background without clashing. Top bar autohides, bottom doesn't.

As always, click to embiggen.

Yeah, I love the compiz stuff. Having stuff explode when you close it can be tacky, but it's more fun to have stuff explode in flames when you close it.

I just have the fade out, or whatever it's called, where the window gets smaller and more transparent till it disappears. It's a tad classier than explosions (it's okay, I have the warp in setting for when I open windows which makes a big flash when I open stuff enabled, and fire drawing).

I know, I had compiz on my laptop for awhile (it killed battery life so I stopped using it).  'tis a joke.

Actually that setup was never meant to be permanent, it was just set up and never moved for the 10 months it has been there.  I bought it so I would finally have a TV, but never found a need for a TV even after I bought it.

My current desktop on the laptop with has that nasty little thing known as Vista (and thanks to proprietary chipsets and drivers, XP won't boot on it)

on my desktop (which runs XP, Linux Mynt and Ubuntu)

and the Desktop computer (pardon the little mess at the base of it, I'm recovering files from a soon to die laptop hard drive)

a big improvement over the computer when I posted it way back and had little car for aesthetics.

Man, I'm testing Linux stuff at work, and OpenSuse and Fedora can go die in a fire.  Ubuntu is the only distro (out of those three, we're waiting on Red Hat) that's been playing nice.

first of all, Narr i <3 your niece. if she were a little younger, tho, i'd interpret her facial expression as "i'm trying to poop." oh, and that gh guitar she's holding is wicked.

this is my desktop at work. can't recall where i found the wallpaper, but kudos to the dude who made it.

i, too, am fickle with wallpapers and change them up pretty often. before XP and the shiny roundness of the interface, i used to tweak my windows appearance colours to match the image.

when i get home i'll try to remember to post my fave wallpaper, one i keep going back to.
