I actually just purchased this at Target for $6.88.

It's a very good adventure game.  I'm about 2 hours in.  The voice acting is interesting.  It does show its age graphically though if you're all about looks.

The follow-up, "Dreamfall" is in production right now. I'm not sure on dates, but the video I found looks pretty cool.

TLJ kicks all kind of ass. the story's great, it's frequently funny, and the puzzles make a lot of sense (and lean more towards forgiving than obscure, which is welcome). It was well worth the $40 I spent on it when it was new, much less the bargain-basement prices it's got now.
And I'm hopeful for Dreamfall, although IIRC Funcom is untested on action games (Dreamfall will be a true action/adventure hybrid).

It hasn't got a great replay value, because most of the puzzles are based on item combinations (which is rather simple, really, because fitting items will flash) - only two of them (the machine in front of the house at the beginning and the - err - phone-totems on the island) require real thinking. The story is nice, the ending is fun too.

Overall, it's one of the better adventures published the last years, and it's one of the few computer games featuring characters with a little depth and psychology, no stereotypes.

I haven't been able to find a copy but I've been told that it plays like a book. To me, that's a good thing.
