Everyone's got a band or two they like that most other people go "OMFG EWW" at.

So name yours!

So I'll go first.  I happen to like some Creed songs.  The majority of what's played on the radio by them totally sucks, and I loathe Scott Stapp with a passion, but some of their songs were pretty good.  I also think Avenged Sevenfold is alright, but that topic has been beaten to death in another topic directly about the band.  The only other thing on my playlist that's not exactly the kind of stuff I usually listen to but happen to like a lot is some Lenny Kravitz.  The guy has some great songs.

ADDITIONAL INFO:

I would like to say, to everyone that has said something along the lines of "there are no guilty musical pleasures", that you best never, ever, ever make fun of something that another person likes.  You cannot ever think a band is too popular for their own good / too popular for the talent they actually have, that there is no such thing as degenerate music, and that there are no social stigmas attatched to listening to a certain form of music or band.

There is too such a thing as a guilty musical pleasure, because people will try and make you feel bad for something that you like.  I really hope what you're trying to say (and everyone else who has said something along those lines) is that you shouldn't let other people's notions of what is worthy to like and what is supposed to be hated should not bother you.  That's a valid point.  Saying that there is no such thing as a guilty musical pleasure, whether a person actually feels guilty or not, is fallacy.

I only have one guilty pleasure but I have a rather unhealthy obsession with 80s pop music which makes others cringe:

Duran Duran, the Human League (how can anyone not like them), Soft Cell, Wang Chung etc.

As an aside I also like (honestly, completely non "ironically") the following songs : "Total Eclipse of the Heart". "More Than a Feeling" "The Final Countdown" "Live is Life" and "BYOB"

I've also defied the indie hipsters of my school when I said I'd rather listen to Ashlee Simpson or Hillary Duff than the Mars Volta, unfortunately for them I listen to way more indie than them.

I love Boston, but they're very cheesy, and More than a Feeling, while great, is overplayed nearly as much as Stairway to Heaven.

More than a Feeling is far better than Stairway to Heaven (could I be joking?), plus Boston invented grunge's best known riff, plus they are the only good band named after a place.

Not listening to the radio is such a great way to not ruin classic rock songs.

Guilty pleasures? Hmn, not too many. A few Godsmack songs (Voodoo, Vampires) older System of a Down now and again (Nostalgia thing, and some good tunes. I refuse to let retroactive snobbery paper over them). I like Cradle of Filth quite a bit past when it is musically defensible to do so. (To an extent, right up to Bitter Suites to Succubi. For an A) 'Born in a Burial Gown' is the anthem of me being 15, for a B) Sisters of Mercy cover! Most ridiculous song about suicide in a graveyard ever (and I've heard a few of those lemme tell you)). I still like a load of 90's Industro-rock from my early teen years that it is now dreadfully uncool to like as well: Chiefly Rammstein (which I do not consider a guilty pleasure, though the latest album was a tad pants) but also the odd bit of Zeromancer, Rob Zombie, Marilyn Manson etcetera. Others would also probably consider Jack Off Jill and every Wednesday 13 project to be 'guilty' pleasures, but these people are fools. Fools!

Lounge Against the Machine is hot.  My friend went to a death metal concert, and between bands, they played the Richard Cheese version of "Rape Me."

As for me, pretty much all of the rock stuff I listen to is a guilty pleasure.  I'm a jazz musician, and when people ask me what I've been listening to, I never want to tell them that it's been, you know, Loudness, or techno.  I guess my main guilty pleasure would be that I sometimes listen to techno.  Not crazy, insano techno.  Just plain old techno.  Honestly, I can't figure out a single reason why I like it, but I do!

Seriously. Whats ridiculous though is that it was written by Max Martin who wrote a good deal of really really shitty songs for Britney Spears, the Backstreet Boys, and N'ync (is that how you spell it?). Have you heard the Ted Leo cover though?

Also, that one TaTu song was awesome as was that Britney Spears song "Toxic". I find that I like a lot the really really poppy corporate shit than the pseudo-emo corporate shit thats getting a ton of air play right now. I really just can't listen to any of that.

I think you might like Alter Bridge than. It's basically Creed with a different, and much, MUCH better singer. They also explore a more metal side. The guitars are less grungy, more rock. They can actually rock a bit now that they aren't Scott Stapp's bitch anymore.

Vampires is one of my favourite songs ever.

As for guilty pleasures, I don't really have any. I love all the music I listen to with a passion, despite their various upsides and downsides. Godsmack, Orgy, Slipknot's 'The Subliminal Verses', StainD. I listen to a lot of stuff that others consider utter crap. I don't really care.

Duran Duran, The Sisters Of Mercy and from time to time I'd watch VH1's So 80's.

I absolutly love The Smashing Pumpkins.

I also like a bit of Aphax Twin and some electronica stuff. Like Faithless, I've been to a concert of thiers last summer and it was perfect.

And The Streets. And other hip-hop bands that dont brand themselfs like mad.

So that's the name of the band that is Creed - Scott Stapp, then?  Looks like I'll have to find out what I can.

Oh, and about Staind:

I honestly do not like them.  I've had a ton of friends tell me I should listen to them, that I'd like them a ton, and then I saw them open for Audioslave, and was so uninterested, I wandered around with my brother outside the seeting, in the consessions area.  A friend of mine went to the concert and was such a pretentious Staind fan, he left after they performed because "Staind shouldn't open for anyone."  Poor guy missed the definite best performance of the night.

Something else I just thought of I could count as a guilty pleasure:  I like some video game music.  Well, a lot of it, but I leave pretty much the entire Guilty Gear soundtrack (for GGX2, GGX#Reload, and GG Isuka) on my playlist.  "The Cat Attatched To The Rust" is a really awesome song, among others.

I'll 'fess up to anything that I listen to. I like it and I don't see a reason not to admit it.  There are cd's I won't mention that I bought (Prodigy for example) but that's more so that people don't get a wrong idea about what I like now.

To be honest, my liking StainD is based on an impressive list of five songs. I mostly like them because the singer is one of my favourite people to sing along with - because I actually manage to sound okay. I bet if I listened to more I'd probably go 'meh'.

And he's pissed because StainD opened for Audioslave? Goddamn, talk about priorities. I'll take every chance I can get to see Tom Morello make beautiful porno with his guitar.

That is quite possibly the best description of how he plays the guitar, that I've ever heard.  You should check out Audioslave's "Live in Cuba" DVD, if you like watching him play.  They performed a couple of Rage and Soundgarden songs, too, so if you like the older bands they are made of, it's worth getting for that.  (They did at the concert I went to, as well.)  They do this little two minute instrument's only version of Bulls on Parade.  The solo in that song is the freakin' win.

I am not entirely sure what is a guilty pleasure these days, but back in the day(a couple of years ago) I listened to Linkin Park, Aqua and a cd I had called Swedish Mega Hits(yes I know...). As a consequence I pretty much know all of Hybrid Theory's lyrics by heart. I know, I was a poor misguided fool, and might I add, I don't to it anymore. But that doesn't mean that the remix version of Point of Authority isn't damn good.

THANK YOU! I tell my friends this and they the worst "ew" face ever. Their music/production is kick ass and if you can understand what they're saying in Russian (like yours truely), the lyrics are much more meaningful then North American pop lyrics.  My dad loves them too, he's stolen my iPod numerous times to listen to my Tatu cd. It's pretty odd to see a 51 year old man who doesn't really approve of homosexuality enjoying a song who's title translates to "Gay Boy".

I can't comment on her voice, but I just hope none of those songs are by Andrew Lloyd Webber.  He's by far one of my least favorite musicians ever.  I mean, his musicals consist of two songs, over and over again!  Maybe I'm just annoyed after having to play in a production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, which is godawful, and if any of you like it, you're wrong.  Yes, you're wrong about whetheryou like it or not.

Oooh I know!  I've always had a soft spot in my heart for "1998", that trance track by Binary Finary that PvD remixed.  In fact, I have a rather secret love for a fair amount of shitty trance.  I hook up the external hard drive and blast it about once every six months or so, much to the chagrin of my roommates.

Oh, that and the Card Captor Sakura beginning ("Catch You Catch Me") and ending ("Groovy") themes.

I don't feel guilty about the music I listen to as much as I feel guilty about the music I don't listen to (namely Bob Dylan, The Who, most good jazz, The Melvins, Led Zeppelin, Frank Zappa, Crosby Stills Nash and Young, Neil Young, nad The Allman Brothers Band).  I have a lot of music that I've never pay attention to even though I know I should.  I say that I should listen to them not because it's "right" to like these guys but because I know I would genuinely like them if I listened to them and I'm too busy with either my old standbys or the stuff that I just heard about.

Indeed, that song has the best metal intro right after Quo Vadis' "Silence Calls the Storm" (that first scream can slaughter a g-unit kid!).

Guilty pleasures: Frankie Goes to Hollywood, The Darkness, U2, The Tea Party and Lacuna Coil.

You know, good point.  I'm in the same boat, really.  I've been trying to remedy that lately (got a few best of albums of various bands) and always enjoy expanding my playlist.

Oh, that and the Card Captor Sakura beginning ("Catch You Catch Me") and ending ("Groovy") themes.

I love Catch You Catch Me.  In fact, I have a soft spot for most JPop

Oh, I forgot about Jpop. I kinda have an old nostalgia for it (an old friend of mine was nuts for it) and I'm slightly ashamed of it.

but the music sucks because the keyboards don't have the cold/mechanical sound they had but a wannabe techno sound that it's pathetic for Rammstein standars.

I love how so many people think this band is essential just because Cobain liked them. I'm not saying you're one of them, but it's really hilarious. Everything I've heard of the Melvins is dire.
