I like some metal. You know what's really metal? Correct punctuation, grammar and spelling.

Some metal bands who encourage this are:
3 Inches of Blood
Dragonforce
Scum
Iron Maiden

My favourites. So yeah, people like their language used properly round here. Just giving you a heads up.

Oh, I'm sorry. We thought you meant different bands, not just one band over and over again with different people playing the same music. Stop being such a tool.

Excluding System of a Down.

Oh, and by the way? According to the my government, my family's income officially makes me part of a poverty family, and I go to a public school. Money has nothing to do with intelligence, thank you.

Either way, he's fucking RETARDED. I mean, all British people go to private schools? Like, what the fuck? Are you serious?

I'm pretty sure that all those bands you listed are the exact arguement against ever listening to heavy metal ever.

Anyways. 3 Inches of Blood are ace, and Advance and Vanquish is one of my favorite metal albums ever. Testament are amazing. Symphony X are probably one of my favorite prog metal bands. Finntroll are shitloads of fun. Skyclad win the folk award (At least with the two albums I have, Wayward Sons of Mother Earth and Prince of the Poverty Line). And of course, you can't go wrong with the Maiden. (Well, technically you can; The X-Factor, anyone?)

My dad makes that joke all the time.  *sigh*

I'm a fan of some metal.  Generally the more popular stuff (in the metal community at least) like In Flames, Nightwish, Iced Earth, Demons and Wizards, Blind Guardian and stuff like that.  I like power metal, but not overly cheesy power metal (the stuff I like tends to toe the line pretty consistently).

OK, I totally disagree with this. The Blaze era is so underrated it's not even funny. Maiden's low point was No Prayer for the Dying, hands down.

And The X-Factor is the better of the two Blaze albums by far. Man on the Edge, kthanxbai.

Kickass metal bands include, but are not limited to: Testament, Nevermore, Symphony X, Iced Earth, Death, and early Megadeth.

Oh man, do NOT remind me of No Prayer for the Dying. It's pretty shittastical. I mean, Bring Your Daughter To the Slaughter is on it (And it's totally, IMO, the worst song they ever wrote).

Easily. Ironically, Bruce is a pretty good songwriter (he did Revelations, among others), and obviously his solo stuff is great. I don't know what they were thinking with that one, but obviously, it becomes their only #1 hit.

And if that's anything to say about the hit system, I don't know what is. But yeah, Bruce is a great songwriter. I mean, he wrote Book of Thel. Total awesome right there.

Also, wasn't that song in a movie or something too?

Book of Thel is totally one of my favorite songs ever. Just the way he says 'rrrripped undone' makes it all worthwhile.

Also, I think you're right about Maiden being in a movie at that time, but I seem to think it was Holy Smoke instead of Bring Your Daughter. Not that Holy Smoke is a much better song.

I allways look for somthing strange and interesting - bands like Atheist, Skyclad, Meshuggah, Isis,  Pain Of Salvation, ...And Oceans, Anata, Edge of Sanity, Agalloch and such..
And I'm a huge fan of doom metal ala My Dying Bride, Katatonia, Paradise Lost, Anathema, Novembers Doom and more.

"Regular" metal just makes me sleepy, seriously.

Edit: Holy Smoke is a great song.

Faith No More are wonderful, although they're definitely not straight-up metal.  Angel Dust is a pretty metal album, though.  You can't go wrong with Iron Maiden, and lately I've been enjoying Mastodon and Slayer.  Tool are also good, if you don't mind Maynard's cryptic psychobabble.

I think most metal is pretty shit. I like Pantera and Metallica (and Megadeth in very short doses) but most metal's just crappy riffs and guitarists trying to outdo each other by either cramming a ridiculous amount of notes into their shitty little guitar solos or trying to outdo each other by seeing who can detune their low E string the most. The double bass drum or double pass pedal is also a bit of a shit invention. I think Poison the Well are the only band I've ever heard use it effectively because if you have the bass drum too loud it doesn't fill the low end. It has nothing interesting to it, just a load of beats on the bass drum except really rapid - big deal. Most metal riffs sound exactly the same, as do the endlessly long solos and death/black metal vocals are just terrible. (This is just my opinion though, don't all you metal fans be taking any offence now :) )

I like Ensiferum though, folk metal, it's kind of fun.

Yeah, I do.
I rather lisrten to My Dying Bride then to Iron Maiden any time. Its strange, but I do find slow depressive doom metal more interesting then fast chuga-chuga riffing heavy metal.
Plus, most doom metal bands started out as death metal.

If you use soulseek, I can send you an album of skyclad.
I cant find anything of theirs here in israel, next week I'm going to order their stuff on-line. Same goes for Isis.

And POS are just genius.

Pantera?  Oh God, I'm sorry.  You're entitled to your own opinion, but I put forth that you haven't listened to the right metal.  Most of what is classified as metal is crap (in my opinion).  However, if you manage to find the right bands, it's really awesome.

I had to special order Princ eof the Poverty Line.  Took a month and then some.  Worth every day.

I would go as far to suggest that  Sins Of Emission/Land Of The Rising Slum/The One Piece Puzzle/A Bellyful Of Emptiness is the best run of unbe-fucking-lievable songs on an album ever, and A Dog In the Manger only loses out by being not quite as wierd. Womb of the Worm though. Fuck.

Do I listen to metal? Are bears catholic? Does the pope shit in the woods? But as always, this forum is so blimmin' pussy and predictable :p. Props to Misereatur, fucking nice list, but people, people, people. No mention I've seen* of Burzum, Carpathian Forest, Bloodbath, Ancient Rites, Immortal, Waylander, Cryptic Wintermoon,  Bathory, Ewigkeit, Darkthrone, Korpiklaani, Aborym, Venom, Running Wild, Crotchduster, Bal-Sagoth, The Berzerker, Isengard, Borknagar, Bolt Thrower, Crown of Autumn, Star One, The Count Nosferatu Kommando, Grave, Orkrist, Turisas, Sigh, Candlemass, Horna, Arcturus, Wyrd, Silent Stream of Godless Elegy, Abigail, Vintersorg, Nazgul, Sabbat, Anaal Nathrakh, Cruachan or Municipal Waste? People! I have not been tutoring you correctly!

Has anyone even said Mercyful Fate or Judas Priest yet? Please say yes.

Also, before we go on a convenient bender of inverse class snobbery, I'm a public school boy. Though, I will admit, I do have a partial scholarship.

*At least five of these bands WILL actually have been mentioned in the thread.

but the music sucks because the keyboards don't have the cold/mechanical sound they had but a wannabe techno sound that it's pathetic for Rammstein standars.

That's not even a full list. That's just basically my more obscure favourite bands minus all the goth rock, industrial and neo-folk.

I know. But I'm still far too much of a lazy fucker to do any of this, really.
