Alright, it's late, I'm at work, the lights are off, and the beats are here.
(1) Nirvana - Melanie Blue :: This is Nirvana, the 60s psychedelic band. This is on my work computer because I have to do testing on edge cases for the product I am designing, and figuring out what happens when you say "Play Nirvana" on a voice-operated stereo system when you for some reason have both the 90s Seattle band and this rather obscure psychedelic pop outfit in your collection is a rather interesting edge case.
(2) The Smiths - Plesase, Please, Please Let Me
(3) Steve Spacek - Hey There :: My roommate, as the manager of the local Hear Music (an "upscale" record store chain owned by Starbucks that specializes in recommendations, good service, and selling CDs at MSRP), often gets a number of promotional CDs from labels with, shall we say, decidedly adult tastes. Translation: we have Starbucks Ray Charles comps and copies of Michael Buble's last release coming out our EARS at home. Every now and then, however, something comes along that makes us happy to be so attuned to the 40-something aging ponytailed yuppie listening market, and Steve Spacek's spaced-out soul is just that.
(4) Tujiko Noriko - Niagara Hospital :: From Blurred in my Mirror, a much more noisy and nonstructural affair than her previous works. It's quite good, luckily.
(5) 764-HERO - Loaded Painted Red :: Uhh, I guess this came from a 90s mix that an acquaintance made for me. A group of four of us alternated making mixes from 1965-74, 75-84, 85-94, and 95-04. I haven't really listened to this song at all, but I don't really like what I'm hearing as I play it right now.
(6) Prefab Sprout - Bonny :: Go buy Two Wheels Good.
(7) Mandarin Chinese Primer - Lesson 6j (Making Phone Calls And Scheduling Appointments) :: Yeah, I have mp3s of Mandarin Chinese lessons on my computer. No, I have not yet reached Lesson 6. Yes, it is both my hobby and my job (as a linguist) to learn more about languages. No, I suppose I don't really need to learn new languages in my current capacity as a computational linguist. No, I do not have the FET.
...Yes, I have dated three Asian-American girls in the last four years, but NO, I didn't seek them out simply because of their heritage or any physical or emotional qualities specifically stemming from their Asian or Asian-American heritage. They were all very nice girls who happened to be interested in me.
...Yes, I lived in Japan for five months. NO, I did not pursue Japanese girls!
...Yes, I lied. Are we done here?
