WARNING: RANT!

I'm sure that everyone here knows about the new Legend of Zelda game, Twilight Princess.  I'm sure many people are looking forward to it with much glee and jubilation. I, however, am getting entirely pissed off.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE zelda game. I seriously do. I have played them all. I bought a gamecube soley for the LOZ Collector's disc. I reserved this game the day reserves were available, back in late 2004. That was A YEAR AND A HALF AGO. The release date when I first reserved my copy was "First quarter '05" COOL, I thought, It'll keep me occupied for a few weeks. Nope. It got pushed back, to "Last quarter '05" Not too mad, I thought. I'll just get back into WoW for a few months and pick it up intime for the christmas holiday. Nope. It got pushed back to "First Quarter '06". UGH. Still not too bad. I've waited this long, and it looks to be worth it. the last set date I heart was April 1, 2005. I was at the local game shop that I frequent, browing over the used games as a sometimes do, when I stumbles upon the Gamecube "SOON TO COME" section.. I look up and, what do I see? "Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess 09/12/06" Pushed back again. I certainly hope nintendo throws out some sort of discount for those of us that went in and dropped full-price first day and are still waiting for it to be released.

/rant over

So then.. Discuss Zelda, and game reserve irritations.

When they did this for Wind Waker, that's how the Master Quest bonus disc came about.

They might do something special for TP too.

However, the prevailing thought is that they're including Revolution-only features in the game, effectively making it a launch title for the MOST AWESOME CONSOLE EVAR.

Nope. It has been confirmed several times by  Nintendo that it is coming out on the gamecube. NOT the rev. The rev is scheduled for 2k7 last I heard.

Nintendo has said repeatedly that the Revolution will be out before the holiday season 2k6. Anytime later would be suicide. No set date has ever been announced, though.

Nor has there been a date set for the new Zelda game.

Everything is speculation.

But the rumor is that they're adding Rev only features to the GameCube game. They did it before with the Oracle Zelda games for Game Boy Color. They had a dungeon and shops that were only accessible on a Game Boy Advance.

Some of this might be confirmed next week during the Game Developer's Conference where Satoru Iwata, President of Nintendo, is scheduled to make a keynote address.

The game that I am most disappointed with the delays is Starcraft: Ghost.

I figure these delays are better than them releasing shit games though.

This is why I stopped reserving huge titles.  I only ever reserve something if it's entirely underground and will only be released in limited quantity.  I guarantee that when Twilight Princess hits, there will be 2398529864 extra copies.

I'm a huge fan of every Zelda game I've ever played, yet I've not gotten around to playing the last few.  wtf is wrong with my priorities?

Yeah, same. I played all of 'em through Majora's Mask (or Ocarina of Time, whichever was the 2nd), but stopped there. I'm definitely purchasing a Game Cube just for Twilight Princess.

I've beaten them all (Frick Links Adventure is hard), but Ocarina of Time (the first 64 Zelda, just FYI) is my favorite. I still listen to the soundtrack on a regular basis.

Wasn't that the last one released? Excluding the portable ones, that is, because they shit one of those out every fucking week.

Do not be talking smack about the portable games.  I have only played a little bit of it, but I already know Minnish Cap rawks my c0k.

I haven't played any Zelda games since my last Nintendo console (N64).  Hell, the last FF I played was FF7 for the PS.

Currently have three games on pre-order: Auto Assault Collector's Edition, Guild Wars: Factions and...  Good lord, I forgot what the third game is.  Haha, I'm a failure.

Edit: EB Games website trawling reveals that it is HL:Aftermath that is the third game.

Mmm.  Half Life.

I just pre-ordered Elder Scrolls: IV - Oblivion today. Wicked excited about that one.

Can anyone tell me what the advantage of pre-ordering is?  I have yet to be seriously delayed in my quest for gaming goodness when I skip that particular channel.

Remember when S.T.A.L.K.E.R. was going to come out in Q4 '03 come hell or high water?  Those were the days.

I pre-ordered Kingdom Hearts II a week or so ago, and at the same time pre-ordered Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. The reason I pre-ordered them is so I can just go in the day they are released, put them in my messenger bag, leave and go cum all over their covers without having to wait with a huge erection in line behind a bunch of other people there that day trying to purchase it.

Generally, if you want any of the collector/extra special editions, you should pre-order.  I have a nice silver metal case with Halo 2 in it downstairs.  Some games, though, just never sell properly, and you can still find the collectors editions for sale.

I usually do it as a precaution. More than once I've had to wait weeks for a game to be in stock if I don't preorder.

Personally I would see the wait as a good thing, but then the only game I've ever bought immediately after release was Katamari.

I think I preordered Zelda: TP back when it was first availiable as well, the worst part was that I learned that it was being delayed from a week old epsiode of G4 TV.com.

I was also hoping that they would actually release that EGM gag of Wind Waker re-done with the new graphics

Personally I loved Wind Waker, so much so that I collected every single wooden figure in the game as well as every heart piece.  But really I didn't like Luigi's Mansion to much, I mean I beat it in a day and collected every single wandering ghost, good thing I rented it though.

I am a lady who plays very few video games in general. LoZ is one of the few series where I feel like I know that I'll like what I'm getting. I'm not really picky or anything, but I'm always really hesitant to spend my money. I've been waiting for this game for such a long time. I feel like, if this is going to be released when my brother is in college, I might not want it because I don't like playing games alone. I dunno.

In other Zelda related news, Nintendo announced "Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass" for the DS. It appears to be in an overhead view, like the 2D Zelda games, but actually use 3D models. It's also a sequel to Wind Waker, as it has the same Link and same style.
