create the worst possible tribute album you can think of!

minkles:
Ooh, I've got it:

An A Capella Tribute to Godspeed You! Black Emperor.

Which could actually be quite good if done right.
Or hilarious if done right.

Kai:
But man, those people would be deaf from having to hold a single note for a good 40 minutes.

books_out_loud:
any tribute to the smiths (save for 'at the drive-in - this night has opened my eyes' and 'xiu xiu - asleep') is a bad idea in my eyes.

01. deftones - please let me get what i want
02. pale sunday - i know it's over
03. placebo - bigmouth strikes again
04. supergrass - some girls are bigger than others
05. i'm tired of listing bad smiths covers
06. they've all been done
07. please stop doing them
08. this is a plea to all musicians
09. thank you.

--- Quote from: tommydski ---however, i find the worst 'tribute' albums to be unintentional, whereupon bands don't even know they are shitty cover bands.

par example, interpol as joy division.

I love you. Very, very much. Glad to see you back, by the way.
My friend said the same thing about interpor when they first came out and it made me giggle. I still kinda like their first album though. Good for relaxing.

KharBevNor:
Just as an aside, has there EVER been a decent multi-artist Black Sabbath tribute? I mean, Rondellus one is sweet, and Hand of Doom is kinda cool in a LOL THE SONGS R SUNG BY A GIRL way, but all the multi-artist tributes (Hell Rules, Nativity in Black 1-3 etc.) are generally fucking lame. And it's not like I haven't got some great Sabbath covers by groups like Orange Goblin and Candlemass lying around...There are about four or five good songs on the whole NIB series (generally by artists who you could actually imagine doing justice to a Black Sabbath song, ie. Danzig, Type O Negative, and kinda surprisingly White Zombie) and that's it. I mean, seriously, System of a Down and NoFx. Covering Sabbath. WHAT?
