Scary Games

<< < (6/18) > >>

Trollstormur:
here's a couple lesser known horror titles, both jap.

Forbidden Siren
Kuon

My friend found both these games to be scarier than any Silent Hill.

Shadowlink137:
I'm surprised no1 has mentioned it yet, but RE: 4 was really freaky. Especially when the thing in the bag started jumpin around. I basically crapped my pants.

Also the regenerators, the first time I shot off the leg of one of them to run by before I could kill it, IT JUMPED AT ME AND TRIED TO RAPE ME. I swear that freaked me out to no end. I couldn't sleep that night.

Nah, I agree.  First time I remember being scared by a game was in the first Resident Evil.  My friend and I were playing it, just going through a room that we had cleared long ago, and then all of a sudden one of those damn spiders crawls out on the wall from around the corner (the room was more of an L-shaped hallway, really).  It gave us both the heebie-jeebies, just because we were completely unprepared.  I'm pretty sure whichever of us actually had the controller ended up using far more ammo than was necessary to kill him, just to make sure he wasn't getting back up.

Also, Mr. X from RE 2 was pretty creepy.  Especially when he shows up in that little Factory area.  I won't say too much about that, don't want to ruin it, but it was pretty awesome.

all of this is making me really want to go back to my parents, dig out my old ps and rock these games, which is of course a very good thing :)

Yeah, the early RE games might not have been as action-packed as RE4, but they're still masterpieces of atmosphere and suspense, and they have pretty good stories too.  Especially the second one.

Oli:
When playing the re-make of RE 1 on the Gamecube for the first time do not think to yourself just after the game starts:

"Oh it's pretty fun when you open the door and the dog jumps in but you slam the door on it's face"

because you'd played the PS version and knew that this happened.

The dog does not get a door slammed on it's face.
