This is what most non-Campbell fanpeople tell me (my mum hated that Good Ash/Bad Ash fight so much she had to leave the room) and usually even the big fans say they prefer the first two (usually Dead By Dawn), so that's why I say even the third one. Personally I love all three for different reasons.
And I still think Land of the Dead was shitty. I couldn't even laugh at it it was so bad. Seriously, it was hyped as the best, most gory of the series and it was soooo lame *shakes head* maybe he just lost his magic?

KharBevNor:
I've seen Cannibal Holocaust and Cannibal Ferox, but with the animal cruelty scenes in Cannibal Holocaust cut.

I think the real problem with them is they're not actually that good :p There's gore, and there's nudity, but the effect is lost. Something like 'I Spit On Your Grave' is far more horrific with a lot more...understatement. If ISOYG can be said to be understated in any way.

IronOxide:
I really liked Shaun of the Dead because it was hilarious and alo had its good scenes. Land of the Dead was good because it focused a lot on the society of a post-apocalyptic world as well as some good zombie stuff.

28 days later really got to me because it had fast zombies, which are even more fucking scary than regular-type.

Kirbo:
One thing I never got about Zombies, why do they like to kill the living so much? And why are they strong?

soap:
perhaps they're so strong because they have no feelings so instead of lifting something and going "ooh, me back, thats too much for me" they just keep going. but then again the zombies in romeros dawn are really feeble ... they're forever getting pushed over and brushed off.

one of the things i love about the slow shambling zombies is that they're so relentless, the scare factor comes from the constant sense of dread, the knowledge that no matter how fast or far you run they will always keep coming, they will never give up and eventually, they will get you.
i always think the fast zombies of the new dawn and the infected of 28days later are more of a "BOO!" kind of jump scare which is only really effective the once, then it just starts getting a bit tired.
not that zombie movies are ever particularly scary anyway.
