Kaleidoscope Grove

http://www.myspace.com/kaleidoscopegrove

Vancouver-based, and pretty much in its beginning stages but I wouldn't be surprised if this guy whipped up a tonne of material in a few months. Check out the Indian Summer cover, is it just me or does he sound a lot like the guy from Beat Happening? I also quite like the track, "Until the Walls Run".

I don't have much of an idea on how to explain what he has. Um... it's electronic.

Go listen to it.

You Say Party! We Say Die!

Local act from little old Abbotsford, BC. Buddies of mine who have been getting pretty popular lately (debut full-length got 7.1 and a frontpage on pitchfork) and have been touring canada for the last year and a half, and hitting the UK in may! I've seen them go from not too hot (playing my 17th birthday) to holding the sickest dance parties i've ever been to, not to mention (IMO) stealing shows from Pretty Girls Make Graves, Blood Brothers, and some other bands people like that I don't. (well, i like pgmg) so check em out!

yeah, i've been buddies with them for a little while now, not family close, but definately on the guest list. Abbotsford's got a pretty tightly-knit crew of a scene (that is, there's only a few of us who dont really suck), so we're all pretty hyped for them. It's awesome to hear them say great things about playing in abbotsford because the shows here are all AWFUL (bar their's).

I might as well whore my favourite band Under Byen one more time. Don't let the danish vocals scare you off, they are also great musically :)

Meh. Most of the bands here are emocore or screamo with generic names.

I give the NA scene a thumbs down.

I actually dig a band I found on myspace.  I don't know them personally, but one night landed on their page.

Verve-ish guitar with Cure influences.  Good accoustic cover of 2 Late.

Brave.  My friend worked with a number of their members.  Also, their current bassist is in a technical death metal band with the same friend's ex-drum teacher.  Hell, I'll just whore both bands:
Here's Brave's website and their myspace page.
Here's Modulus's (the technical death metal band) website.  They also have a myspace page.

Finally, there's my jazz/funk group that's linked in my sig.

I'm a pretty big fan of http://www.myspace.com/knifeinthewater">  Knife In the Water. I'm not too sure how obscure/popular they are outside Austin, but they're pretty popular here.

Hehehehe, the guitarist/vocalist's last name is Knipple.  Oh man, that effect on the vocals is mildly annoying, at least it sounds like an effect to get his voice a little more metalic-sounding.  If that's his natural voice, damn.

heheh these kids are real silly, they were emos before they got into underground metal, so they're always in those really tight emo pants, with like immortal shirts and bracers over that. they're so darn cute.

oh, and the vocals are probably my favorite part about th' band.

Also I would like to point out that the combination of Sailor Moon and faux-Kerouac / Sonic Youth spelling is perhaps the purest distillation of what this forum is that we have yet been presented with.

So it turns out you're from Abbotsford eh? That's cool in a sort of "man I hate Abbotsford" sort of way.
I'm gonna whore Babysnakes. So there.

Do they sound anything like the Zappa song/album that they pilfered their name from?

but the music sucks because the keyboards don't have the cold/mechanical sound they had but a wannabe techno sound that it's pathetic for Rammstein standars.

They know how to rock a 10 x 10 room in a basement like no other band I have ever seen.
