--- Quote from: TrueNeutral ---I quite like Disturbed. They're probably the best thing that came out of nu-metal. That's not saying much to most people here, though.

I completely disagree. I never liked Disturbed, even when I liked nu-metal.
TrueNeutral:
To each his own, I guess.
To be fair, Disturbed was only really nu-metal on The Sickness. On Believe and Ten Thousand Fists they play something more akin to traditional metal. Fewer electronics, no rapping (although really, the only thing close to rapping Disturbed ever did was Droppin' Plates), and eventually, guitar solos.
I think that outside of The Sickness, Disturbed is pretty much qualified to be a Pantera tribute band or something. I heard 'em play 'Walk' once, and it was pretty much spot on, and that's when I realized that they actually have a somewhat similar sound.
Why I like them is probably a sort of respect because they stopped playing nu-metal around the same time I got disillusioned with the genre and started looking for more music, reinforcing my belief that there's gotta be something more.
They are quite repetitive at times, though.
Kai:
Man, those guitar solos are pretty jaw dropping horrible. SCALES WOAHZ
TrueNeutral:
Yeah, Dan's a pretty terrible guitarist. I think he might have actually been playing guitar for a whole month before they started the band.
Hey, but at least they're trying. That meshes with me. Also, I think the drummer is pretty good, and Draiman is a hilarious vocalist, and fun to scream along with.
Can't judge their new bassist, but you couldn't judge their old one either. You can't hear them.
I guess I basically just like them out of nostalgia. Which is weird, because they're actually a fairly young band. Curse my late 80's birthdate!

Ah, well I've never been able to stand Pantera either.
