I Fucking Hate They Might Be Giants

Tergon:
I'll agree that several TMBG songs are stupid, annoying and ridiculous.  Minimum Wage, Meet James Ensor, Spider... the list goes on.  A lot of TMBG songs sound kind of like teeny-bop after a camel has puked on it... or maybe rejects from Veggietales.

That being said, I do like TMBG.  Maybe I just don't take myself seriously enough, like onewheelwizzard said.  I hope not - taking yourself seriously is too damn depressing.  I'd rather be a TMBG fan than an Emo.
But I honestly do like a lot of their songs.  Some, like Particle Man and Dr. Worm fall into the "So Bad It's Good" category.  On the other hand there are ones like New York City, Experimental Film and Birdhouse In Your Soul that actually do have good music to 'em and lyrics that aren't just stupid jokes.
Iunno.  I'm convinced that somewhere, under all the gimmicks and jokes, there's a little nugget of musical talent buried somewhere in TMBG.  Possibly in their kidneys.

Still, onewheelwizard did say it best: so long as you're not pretentious enough to take yourself seriously ALL the time, TMBG can be a lotta fun.

Bunnyman:
Sorry 'bout the Icon of Coil...ever get totally turned off a band because you associated them with a traumatic episode?  That's the dilly.  I still stand by the other two.

Yeah, precisely.  TMBG is pretty much total fun.  I mean, look at their album art.  These guys are going for outright comedy a lot more than deep insight.

Kai:
Wait, tramautic episode? Icon of Coil? STORYTIME PLZKTHX

Tearon:
I dunno. I always felt that TMBG was a pretty good band for what it was. I mean, as far as gimmick bands go, you've got a serious limit of quality, which is what you can expect considering that it's not about music so much as comedy. Which is fine.

Synchronicity:
After hearing Apollo 18 on repeat everytime I went over to my friends house for like 3 months last year I really can't stand TMBG. Bleh.
