If I start a thread for a forum rec page some mod can sticky it later right?

Cause seriously we really need one and it would be awesome to make. This is basically the 45382573292452802 time people have asked for recomendations.

Re: the request

Camera Obscura gets compared to them a lot so you might check that out.

I second the Camera Obscura recommendation, and would add The Essex Green and Saturday Looks Good To Me on there.  If it's twee pop you'd like to explore, you should check out Tullycraft and The Boy Least Likely To, or Suburban Kids With Biblical Names.

YES. Ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba--ba--ba--ba! I recomend all of those particularly the last one (you'll get bonus points for knowing who they were way back when cause these guys are really unknown) I'm actually pretty surprised they popped up cause last I checked they were playing tiny little shows in Sweden or whereever they're from.

VIOLENCE HAS ARRIVED.

I agree with this post 110%. They are definitely like Belle and Sebastion* or whoever.

*assuming that Belle and whatchamacallit happen to ROCK THE FUCK OUT AND MAKE MONSTERS OUT OF DILDOS

but the music sucks because the keyboards don't have the cold/mechanical sound they had but a wannabe techno sound that it's pathetic for Rammstein standars.

Get the new Isobel Campbell and Mark Lanegan cd. She was the best part of B&S anyway... and Lanegan's voice is awesome like Tom Waits awesome.

What about orgasmic chemistry.

I can expand the definition of that if anyone wants to roll around to my Fortress of Love.

You'll probably like Voxtrot if you're into Belle and Sebastian.

If you're looking for older stuff, one could argue that Orange Juice influenced both B&S and Voxtrot.

I'm looking for some new music too, can anyone suggest some for me?  Right now I'm listening to goat, a videogame remixer who can really rock the f**k out.  So far though, I can't find anyone who comes close to his level of rockitude.  I am an extreme noob when it comes to music, though, so most bands that are common knowledge to most people are completely new to me.  I've heard of this melodeath, and for the most part I like it, because I love how balls-to-the-wall it is, and yet has a very strong focus on melody, but I always get bugged by the vocals, the death screams, which, compared to the guitars, are so unmelodic, monotone, and jarring.  I'm looking for something that is filled with guitars that are rocking the f**k out, but has a central melody and does a lot with melodies and harmonies with the guitars, instead of settling into a simple chord progression like most songs do.  Can anybody guide me to music that might match my tastes?

Yeah, but you're missing one key point, Paul Gilbert is Buckethead!  He denies it and claims he's Pete Willis, but we all know the truth.
